ATT U-Verse app worthless - never works correctly
Several years ago when ATT introduced the U-Verse app I was so happy, believing I would now be able to use my mobile devices around the house and when I was away to view content, control my receivers, etc. However, what I have discovered is that the app rarely works correctly. The most flawed aspect is its ability (inability) to show live content. Even when connected to my home network, live content (TV) will either run briefly then stall or not load at all. My latest (last few months) experience is that the app will not show live content at all. Instead I get "The U-Verse mobile service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. (UVM 996)".
Anyone else?
Please do not ask me if I:
-
- Rebooted the modem, router, etc.
-
- Reinstalled app
-
- Tried a different device
-
I am interested in technical thoughts. It would be nice to determine if the issue is on the user side rather than the server (ATT) side, but I haven't given much thought as to what I'm looking for. It's always a bit difficult troubleshooting from an IPhone where tooling is a bit restrictive.

Oh. Well. Sorry. There've been many issues with the app on iOS over the years. Every major iOS upgrade breaks it for a couple of months. I now see that you did say iPhone towards the end of your post. Android hasn't been without issues, but far fewer than on iOS. Noting that the entire U-verse IPTV platform could be shut down any year, I don't have high hopes that the situation on the mobile apps will improve.

Oh I know. They haven’t exactly made it a secret that UVerse is mostly dead and everyone will soon be forced to Direct, which based on what I’ve seen (Edited per community guidelines) more. I guess going back to an antenna might be a good approach ;-)

I use the U-Verse app almost daily on both iOS and Android. Never have an issue.
