Amount of U-verse Family channels
When I signed up for U-verse Family, the ad said over 200 channels included.
I have since found that there are only about 150 channels available.
That's a lot of channels missing. I feel very cheated!

I counted 275 (give or take) according to THIS
You have to realize that they include all the Stingray channels in that count, along with all the shopping channels. Do you watch all of them? Probably not but they are there.
What channels do you feel like you are missing?

I went through the guide and counted ALL the channels available to me.
It was only about 120 channels!

When did the HD fee get eliminated for packages less than U450?

I also noticed that they changed their recent adds from "over 200 channels" to 150 channels.

I have not seen all of the U-Verse ads, but the website still shows “over 200 channels” for the U-Family package. In my zip code there are 42 locals alone. Your box probably shows less if you have it set to exclude sd duplicates (those are considered channels). I have seen other providers make large channel claims to see mostly shopping or music channels, nothing that I would be interested in. Channel lineups change all of the time, it’s in the terms. How many channels does your channel lineup show? What channels are you “missing” that you used to have?

HERE is a .pdf file if you want to count and/or see which channels are in any given package.
It doesn't include your local channels like your ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox affiliate and any independent stations in your area which can be 30 or more local stations.

Only about 100 channels are listed in the guide for U-family.
I also have 10 local stations. For a total of 110 channels!
My point is that they advertised that I would be getting over 200 channels, and I do not.

We understand what you’re saying, but you can’t go by your guide alone. I have over 300 channels in my package, but only about 210 channels are in my guide because of the filters that I have set. If I look almost half are sd, then hd, each count as a “channel”. Then I have what I call “nonsense” channels, i.e. music/shopping channels, and other channels that are of no interest removed from my guide. If I didn’t have the premium channels I’d have ALOT less watchable channels. No advertisement states that the amount of channels are guaranteed, that’s why there is a link to show exactly what channels you will receive in your zip code. Channels change all of the time, it’s in your terms.

It just doesn't seem fair to count the same channel twice for sd and hd. Depending on what you have, you only watch one of them.
To count 50 music channels in the TV channel lineup is also ridiculous.
So I'm actually paying over $60 a month for 75 watchable channels. Your ad is misleading to say the least.
I think even AT&T realized this and that is why they have changed the amount of channels in their new ads.

Can you give a link to that ad? It would be helpful information in the future.

They are not counting the “same channel twice”, for instance one of my channels is 113 for the sd version, but it’s 1113 for the hd version, that’s 2 different channels. It might be the same network, but it’s 2 different channel numbers. All providers advertise channel amounts, it’s up to you as a consumer to see if it’s content you actually want. If someone were to advertise “15 channels” and someone else were to advertise “over 100 channels”, who would you look at first?
To you and me the music and shopping channels might be undesired, but to someone who can’t go to a mall to go shopping or can’t tune a radio, those channels are very much desired. There is no advertisement that states “ over 100 useable, watchable channels”. Nobody can make that claim, that would be ridiculous.

I have noticed a change in the amount of channels in the ads I receive in the mail.
Sorry but I do not have a copy of one at this time.

Next time you get an advertisement, look in the tiny print and see who actually sent it out. They usually state who the ad company, printer and company is. Most of the time it’s from local retailers. I get them all of the time, but the phone number isn’t the same as the website, then I noticed at the bottom, or other side, it stated from “xyz communications”, or whatever. Best Buy advertises DTV all of the time in their flyers. As one of the above posts stated, they may be discontinuing some channels, like music. Honestly, U-Verse could probably discontinue half of my channels and I wouldn’t even notice, unless it was one of the very few that I actually watch. I am mostly a DVR or vod watcher, the little time that I actually do watch tv.

@my thoughts
Makes sense but initial look didn't reveal it. The odds of someone ordering this service and not wanting HD is probably very low at this point.
Txs.
