Workarounds for Directv Disney Dispute

Regarding the upcoming Monday Night Football on September 7, I probably need to assume that the dispute will not be settled in time, and that ESPN/ABC will not be available.

To cover,  I’m going to purchase a digital antenna on Amazon for $25. I guess I can return it if they settle in time (sigh!).

You'll be amazed at how far ahead of other people your OTA connection is.

Them: "Did you see that play?"

You: "Well before you just now."

An off-air antenna will help you get your local ABC station (assuming your antenna can pick up its signal). But it won't get you ESPN.

Yes. Additionally, directv is offering a $20 one-time credit so this can cover costs for the OTA antenna.

Antennas are excellent insurance, regardless, against the yearly carriage disputes all TV services suffer.

Those who have ROKU can get ESPN.

@JJK1954

Can you? As of last I heard, the linear (live) ESPN channels are only via authentication. ESPN+ is an extra fee and may or may not have the same live sports/shows as ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, depending on what the sport/show is.

Not sure about football,  but I watched Sunday Night Baseball last week.

No ABC means no presidential debate on 9/10/24 for Direct TV subscribers.  This is un-American!  It is not entertainment, it impacts all of all lives. The two sides (Disney and Direct TV) should at least have an agrement to be able to air this for democracy's sake, no matter who you are leaning vote for.  Corporations should not decide government, and people should not have to pay to make an informed decision.

The debate is also on ABC News Live which anyone can get.

I think even PBS has it.

So that's:

ABC

ABC News Live

NBC

MSNBC

CNN

FOX

CBS

PBS

Eight different ways.

Keep in mind that most people can pick up ABC with an antenna.

YouTube Tv is always modifying their trial but it is currently 10 days and not 21 as mentioned previously...
