Watch local channels to another city with a VPN

Can I use a VPN to connect to another US city other than home to watch local channels on my DTV Stream app?

DIRECTV Stream viewing location depends on the billing address registered on file. If you want to access local channels from another zip code, you would need to change the billing zip code on file. Using a VPN to conceal your actual location would be a violation of the DirecTV Stream service agreement. I don't think it's actually illegal, but DirecTV Stream could terminate your service if they detect that a VPN is present. Some people use VPNs for many valid reasons, they are not supposed to work for what you really want them to. The fact that some do work, isn't because they are permitted, it's just that they haven't yet been detected and blocked. However, since there are so many different VPNs and proxy extensions out there, I doubt that they could block them all.

Yes, you can use a VPN to connect to a different US city and watch local channels on your DTV Stream app. I did something similar recently. I wanted to catch a local news broadcast from a different city, so I set up a VPN to that location. It worked pretty well!

...and if they detect the use of a VPN, they may terminate your subscription. Advertisers pay to promote their services to users in the associated DMA.
