Stop home screen stream video from automatically playing
Hello - I am on DirecTv Streaming and this issue is on both my Gemini device and my FireStick.
When the home screen is selected, there is a larger video window that automatically plays. Even if I'm not watching pre-recorded content, it will play whatever content/channel I last watched.
I now have to mute the sound every time I turn on DirecTv as who knows what will be playing. Is there any way that the autoplay can be stopped when you're on the home screen? I really hate this and also have a 4yo granddaughter that might see/hear adult content if I'm not ensuring I'm turning it to PBS Kids before I go to sleep at night. 🙄

Hi, @lemonroe. We understand your concern. Yes, you can turn off Your TV carousel in Settings > Preferences > Start at Home. You can also set up Parental Controls on adult content. Here's how: https://www.directv.com/support/article/000067169 Kesiah, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Thank you, but that just starts the television on a random channel (for whatever reason, I turned on the TV and it went to CBS; fortunately it was a golf game and not horror or anything). I am fine with the Home screen starting/Start at Home being active, BUT I don't want anything playing on the Home screen at all.
Is there a setting where nothing is PLAYING in the screen?
Also, I don't want to have to continuously turn the Parental Controls on and off whenever I'm watching the TV by myself. No minor in my home turns on the DirecTv on their own, only adults. This could all be solved if nothing was autoplaying on the main screen.
Is there an option for this?

Unfortunately there isn't an option. The new interface provides a tailored experience and easy access to your favorite shows. We love the idea! We'll forward it to our team, so they can review and determine the next steps. Rizza, DIRECTV Community Specialist

For me, I love that there’s a small box playing at the homepage. I have OLED TVs and mostly have the 24/7 news channels playing while I’m working. That way I can alternate between full screen or the home screen with a smaller box.
Also, at the home screen, the channels above the box show my most recent channels that I flip between. And it’s very convenient to flip between those channels and have the smaller box show me what’s playing.

That's great, @janice805 , but it doesn't solve my issue. It's wonderful that you enjoy streaming content blaring at you as soon as you turn on the device and that's so convenient for you, but not all of us want that - nor is it convenient when you have a preschooler wandering around who might hear the gory details of a Dateline episode.
Having the home screen boot WITHOUT sound or an autoplay is what I need and what I'm requesting as it works best for my family.

Has there been any update on adding the ability to turn off the autoplay on the home screen . I would like this option as well.

@Jlkeen93 - no update that I've seen, and it was listed as not an option per Directv above:

Well that's upsetting to hear. Personally, I hate it. I hate...HATE...having sound blare at me when I don't specifically request it. Please think of your customers who have sensory issues!
The fact that you all seem to love this idea so much that you force it on your customers is reason enough for me to cancel my trial.
