Sportsnet Stream on Directv
I used to have Spectrum Internet and watched the Lakers games on Spectrum Sportsnet. I just changed to Directv because they had Spectrum Sportsnet and said I could watch the Lakers Games Live. This is not really true. For some reason when you are watching a Lakers Game on Directv, Spectrum Sportsnet has these LONG stretches of "Commercial Break In Progress"--the game broadcast stops, that blue screen comes up, and minutes later the game broadcast resumes. Those blue screen pauses do NOT occur when you have Spectrum Internet and are watching Spectrum Sportsnet. In last night's Dec 18 Laker's game, when it was at halftime on Directv I picked up my iPhone and went into the Laker app. It showed the game had ended and the Lakers had lost 125 to 127.
So if you are watching the Laker game on Spectrum Sportsnet on Directv you are really watching a delayed live broadcast. I thinks this is wrong. Any ideas on who take this issue up with?

The blue banner that says “Commercial break in progress” usually means that there’s no regional commercial available during the break. So, Laura, I did say that there are no blue banners saying “Commercial break in progress” that appear when you watch Sportsnet on the Spectrum Cable TV broadcast. Those blue banners only appear on Directv's broadcast of Sportsnet.
The viewer is forced to wait until those banners disappear to continue seeing the "live" broadcast. The net effect is that they cause the broadcast on Directv to be time delayed by time the blue banners are on the screen. In the Dec 18 game, it was halftime on the Directv broadcast, but the game had actually ended. So the blue banners added an hour + to the televised "live" Stream by halftime!

Aside from DIRECTV not having control in program transmissions, these banners happen when channels have open commercial ad spaces that were not sold to local businesses.
