Selecting a Particular Instance to Record
At times, I want to DVR a program that is simulcast on multiple channels.
The DTV app for my Roku always selects the local version. I would rather a different version because 1) the sound is synced very poorly on the local channel, and 2) the local channel often preempts the program and I miss it completely.
I have tried selecting the one I want from the guide, but it appears that the system finds the local version and records it anyway.
Is there anyway to control this?

Hello there. We work daily to enhance your experience while using our service. In this case, if the content is aired on different channels, the software will record the lowest number, for example, If a game is on channel 200 and channel 230, it'll record the 200. However, we're dedicated to hear our customers and improve our service. We'll receive your feedback and send it to our specialized team for them to take it into account for future updates. Thank you for contacting DIRECTV. Santiago, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Unfortunately, they don’t provide a way to filter or select a recording by station/channel. This has been requested for a while - as they appear to be making some efforts to homogenize the satellite and streaming interfaces and features, perhaps they will add this at some point.

Have you tried going to the Dtv stream website---using that guide and selecting your program to record? Odd the app doesn't record the one you want from the guide. My Dtv Stream box does.

@Ludwick577 - Thanks, I'll try this and see if it works.
Interesting that @Jrandomuser does not think it will.
I'll report back after next weekend with the results.

@DIRECTVhelp - Thank you for the clarity. This change would be an awesome (at least for me) enhancement.

Really hard to call that a “solution”, though it is a more explicit explanation of how they chose than I’ve ever seen before, so I guess that’s something.

As far as I am concerned, this doesn't warrant wasting anymore time. At least we have a plausible explanation as to how the instance of the program is selected.
I wouldn't call it a solution either, but I can accept it as answer.

8 months later and there's no solution. What's going on?
