repeating ads on DirecTV Stream

I access live TV via DirecTV Stream on a firestick and a firecube.  I also have a long-ago-installed satellite dish for one of my TVs.  There is a specific commercial for cord blood storage that keeps repeating when I have live TV playing on DirecTV Stream, usually playing twice in a row and then at least every 10 minutes. This doesn't happen on the satellite feed.

There are also periods where there is just music and it says Commercial Break, which is fine.  I assume that DirecTV didn't sell this time for whatever reason.

If anyone knows for sure that this ad flow is not coming from DirecTV but is inserted into the app feed by Apple, please let me know how you know that and how to address with with Apple.

BTW, I saw a setting with Featured Content and auto-play, but I toggled it to no for both and it didn't make a difference.  I think that must be about videos?

Hi, Mary. The networks, not DIRECTV, place most commercials and some messages are paid advertisements. The network determines what and how many commercials are to be broadcast. Turning off Featured Content and Autoplay will mean that the ads/content on your Fire TV home screen will not autoplay. John, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Thanks, John.  A few clarifications:

Is autoplaying different from just playing as the live stream continues?  I have autoplay off but the ads still play repeatedly.

Why doesn't this happen on my satellite feed TV, only on the DirecTV app streaming via a firestick or firecube?

I find it hard to believe that the network decides to repeat the same ad so often.

In any case, I think the very frequent repetition is happening on 3 different networks.

Why are there times when it just says "Commercial Break", which doesn't happen on the satellite feed?

As you gather, I can't see it being decided by the network and happening in the ways mentioned above.

Turning off Autoplay on your Firestick will not eliminate ads on the DIRECTV App; it will only prevent ads on the Firestick home screen. Advertisements vary depending on the service provided and the target audience of our advertisers. Commercial breaks are merely intervals where advertising time has not been acquired. I see the same thing all the time. It honestly can’t be the advertiser deciding how many times to show their ads. Ad council is the worst with repetitive ads across multiple channels; watch the same channels on Hulu and this isn’t an issue.
