Recordings start over after being paused

Why are my recordings starting over after being paused? It doesn't matter how long the recording is paused (1 minute, 3 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.), about half the time it will start over to the beginning of the recording. need to remember where I was and fast forward to that spot. It's extremly frustrating.  Is there a glitch or is there something I can do to fix this? I'm watching on an Amazon Firestick if that helps?

Known issue and reported many times over the years. They just seem to not want to address the issue (like many others).

As mentioned above this has been a known issue.  The only thing you can do on your end is to try and reboot your device if that does not work you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if that helps at all.  If that does not take care of it then there is nothing that you can do to fix it as it is most definitely an issue on Directv's end.  The only thing that you could do is get a different streaming device than the one you currently have.

Thanks, we're new to streaming so I wasn't aware this was an issue. I appreciate the feedback.

@bcbsncjlj - I saw your comment on my other post (about duplicating my question). That post was nowhere to be found when I submitted it, so after waiting 3 hours, I post again thinking the first one didn't post correctly. Still trying to figure this all out

@tajv0723 which specific FireTV model do you have? I have a 2015 FireTV Box 2nd G and I'm getting proper functionality on pause/resume points - I wasn't aware of the issue. maybe it's specific to some models @Tiger593  @bcbsncjlj ?

@GTyz I am not sure if it is model specific or not.  When we first started streaming Directv Stream we had Firestick and Roku.  Our Firestick would do this all the time but our Roku worked fine.  I would give you specifics but we got rid of it after we bought our Osprey/Gemini boxes.  But I have seen this complaint a number of times and each time it has been posted has been by a Firestick user.

This is good info @Tiger593 - As far as I know, FireTV Stick - 2nd Gen (2016-2019) AFTT is a low-end device that usually underperforms.

@Tiger593  Great info, thank you.  Maybe we'll get a Roku and test it

Since all the device is responsible for is playback (all the "hard" DVR work is done back in the servers), it is hard to believe that a streamer that works for all other display for the service would be under-powered just for DVR playback.  I'd be much more willing to believe a bug in that version of the app (sending a wrong command back to the server or something like that).

I had similar issue with fire TV stick, had to go into the Fire TV stick settings under “Live TV” then Sync Sources then choose DirectV. It should then say all DirectV channels loaded. Hopefully this will improve or eliminate your issue.
