Recordings cut off Live Events that run over their scheduled time (and shows that follow live events get cut off as well)

Direct Stream needs to correct the recording features.  Let us start a recording a few minutes before a show/event starts as well as adding an extension time to the recording (that is how other providers do it).  For example when recording a sporting event that runs 7pm to 10pm but the game takes longer, the recording stops at 10pm even if the event is still going on.  We miss the most important part, the end or overtime!

Another  example is trying to record anything after a sporting event, for example; The weekly show 60 minutes.  It comes on Sunday night right after the afternoon Football game.  Most games run over so when you go to the recording you will see 20+ minutes of the football game that ran into overtime and then miss the last 20+ minutes of the 60 Minutes broadcast because the recording stops at 8pm.  Letting us the user add additional time to the recording will help ensure we capture the entire broadcast.

That feature is currently still in beta and DIRECTV STREAM is yet to have it perfected as of yet. I suggest recording the shows airing after the sporting event so that the cloud DVR won’t stop recording the allocated time of the game if it runs over.

If you want to record a show airing after a game that exceeds its run time, keep recording shows/movies airing after the sporting event by 3-4 hrs at least.

Got it, I will give that a try as a work around.  Hopefully they will have a REAL fix and solution to this soon just as other services do.  Paying what we do for the service to watch TV and then missing programs or having to find work around for common sense issues is one of those things that make me think, let me see what these other companies offer.

Sure.

If the service doesn’t accommodate your needs why pay when another alternative is both cheaper and still fits your needs? I agree.

@detuch254 - what feature are you referring to as "currently still in beta"?  The DVR?  The auto-extend of sports recordings?  Recording things after an auto-extended recording?  DTV doesn't claim either the DVR or auto-extend is in beta, though they do indicate that the latter only applies to some things.  And I've never seen anything to indicate they are even trying to do anything about recordings of things with delayed start times.  (Though I haven't encountered any other services that automatically handle the last of these either.)

I cannot believe this problem still exists after seeing it posted here 2 years ago.  I pay 100% of my bill to watch 95% of the programming that I pay for.  Aren't we due a refund?  This is ridiculous.  I've been a customer for over 10 years and I'm not one to make idle threats.  I am going DirecTLY shopping for a new service.  Great customer service.  Thanks for nothing.  (not referring to Jrandomuser, I appreciate your insight.  I'm referring to DTV who has not worked to resolve any of my issues ever.) :(

Upon leaving this forum, I was directed to a page that reads, "Sports recordings are automatically extended where content continues to stream beyond the programmer’s scheduled time".  This is not true.  Their response would most likely be, "availability and varies by packages".  This has not always been the case.  A year ago, I never had this problem.  Now, I do?  Why?  What did I do to change this?  My package is about $140.00 monthly, so I cannot believe that full sports viewing is reserved for the Ultimate Package users only.  Now, I'm going.. lol
