Recording Past Listed End Time

How do I add 15, 30, 60, 120 minutes past listed end time? This is needed to record complete football/basketball games.

No, there's no listing of extended times. It's still hit-or-miss if this feature works or not. To be safe, always record the show that follows the game.

@imccoy87 here’s what the DIRECTV STREAM website states:

Note: Sports recordings are automatically extended where content continues to stream beyond the programmer’s scheduled time. Applies to the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA leagues, NCAA Football and Basketball (Division I), Soccer (UEFA, FIFA) and PGA Tour Golf. Extended sports recordings contingent upon third-party recording service availability and varies by packages, channel subscriptions & billing region. Blackout restrictions apply. Data connection required. Recordings expire after 9 months. In a series recording, max 30 episodes stored with unlimited hours of cloud DVR and max 10 episodes stored with 20 hours of cloud DVR (oldest deleted first which may be in less than 9 months). Restrictions apply.

Most of these games are set to automatically record the extended air time. No adjustments or special settings need to be applied to the recording.

Thanks for reply, but I tried recording a game today on the SEC Network and it cut it off.

Unfortunately, some games just don’t auto-extend. However, the majority of them do. In this case, you can extend the game by recording the next program that airs after the game.

I was hoping to avoid that. Do the games list the extended time somewhere?

Hi @imccoy87, we understand the importance of having access to record our favorite sports programming.

Thanks @detuch254 for the accurate and prompt response.

As it was mentioned before, recording on DIRECTV STREAM can't be extended. You can learn more information about cloud DVR

If you have any other question or concern, feel free to message us back.

Thanks. I guess it wasn't an official Div. 1 game, so that's probably why it didn't work.

@detuch254  @DIRECTVhelp
Is there some way to tell which games will auto-extend, and which do not?  The list of types of sports/divisions was quite helpful, but an indication on the screen would be even more helpful.

Hi @lotbass, we're here to make sure you're enjoying the best of your DVR services.

For this we recommend you to check this information about the DIRECTV STREAM Cloud DVR, also you can record the next show to make sure you don't miss any part of the game.

Let us know if you have any other questions, and we will be happy to help you.

So, the focus of everything here is to make sure one doesn't miss the end of the game. I just learned (the hard way) that once a program goes long, ALL DOWNSTREAM PROGRAMMING IS AFFECTED. I lost the last half of the 12/10/2022 episode of 60 Minutes because the football game that preceded it went long. So - the advice to record the next show is insufficient. If you have any interest in a downstream show, you essentially have to record ALL the downstream shows. This is stupid.

Stupid - Yes. But you have no other option.

...and to make it worse in this case, the program that followed 60 minutes was not a weekly show occupying a stable timeslot. So, not only do I have to record the next show, I have to remember to do it EVERY WEEK.

I think for regular shows like 60 Minutes you can get them in On Demand.
