We know how much you love your favorite sports and how important it is for you to record them. This is an unusual situation. Allow us to give it a closer look. Please check your PM.

This problem has been around for ever, and is caused by bad guide metadata coming from the channel (in this case the golf channel). The two "episodes" have identical guide data so the DVR thinks they are the same program and so does not record the second one, under the "28 day" rule which prevents a program being recorded if it has already been recorded within the last 28 days.
Directv does not control the guide metadata, it comes from a third party but they just send what the channel gives them so only the golf channel can fix it.

So, if that’s the case and it’s happened for many years, then:
1. When will direct tv come up with a work around
2. why doesn’t direct tv have Golf Channel fix the issue.
???????

There is no workaround. Directv can't change the guide data.
For all I know directv has already talked to the golf channel about this. Last time this happened (a couple of years ago) it was not the golf channel, it was tennis as I remember.

I'm trialing DirecTV Stream right now and I still have AT&T U-Verse. What's weird is that on U-Verse, the Miami Open tennis tournament on The Tennis Channel is broken up into 2 hour segments in the Guide for a total of 12 hours from 8am-8pm PST so 6 separate segments. But on DirecTV Stream, the same broadcast in its Guide is broken up into only 2 separate segments, one for 8 hours from 8am-4pm PST and another for 4 hours from 4pm-8pm PST. On DirecTV, it allows me to schedule both daily segments but it will actually only record the first segment. Only if I don't record the first segment will it actually record the second segment but never both segments. On U-verse, I just schedule all 6 segments and it always records all 6 segments daily. All segments on both U-Verse and DirecTV have the same name title on each day.
So my question is, if the meta data for the program is coming from The Tennis Channel, why is it broken up into 6 daily segments on U-verse but only 2 daily segments on DirecTV? Shouldn't the meta data be the same coming from The Tennis Channel for both? Also, if the meta data is the same, why is recording all segments not a problem for U-Verse but a problem for DirecTV given that all segments each day have the same name title for both?

I'm a DTV satellite customer that tested DTV stream earlier this month. I found this problem immediately and posted about it on 3/2.
1. This problem has been going on for years
2. To blame it on guide metadata is just wrong
I pay DTV for the service, so it's their problem
3. DTV should fix this in a timely matter, which they haven't
4. When I switch from satellite to streaming, it currently will not be DirecTV stream
Just my 2 cents worth

I have always been able to record two channels at once but quite suddenly I no longer can--or at least on one of the units. The channels are not similar so this is not related to the the gold channel or meta data. Is my DVR dying? Its quite old

@Grandmew
If your DVR is "quite old", I'm guessing you're a satellite subscriber, not DirecTV Stream. You should start a new post in the DirecTV Satellite Forum.
