Recording Error

I am in a free trial period of direct tv stream.  I am trying to record a few shows to see how it works and whether or not I am going to like the service.  When I select record episode ( no matter what show) I get an error message that says "Programming not available" "This program is not able to record" is this an issue only during the trial period?  I want to see how this works which is why I am in a trial period.  Please help.
