Preventing live TV when starting DirecTV Stream app

I watch a lot of recorded sports and occasionally when I start the DirecTV app I get a spoiler from a game in progress because the app starts playing live TV on whatever channel was last watched. I pretty much never want to watch the channel I last watched so I hate this feature in general.

Is there any way to make it so the app starts with the guide screen rather than playing live TV? If not, how can I request this feature?

Hello, we appreciate your feedback. I love the idea. I have forwarded your suggestion to the appropriate team, so they can review it and determine the next steps. Thank you for choosing DIRECTV. Happy new year.

Thanks. I should have mentioned I use Apple TV and Roku, and sometimes a web browser.

Not all devices are supported, but you can turn "Play Live TV on Launch" on or off from the app settings under "Preferences".

Thanks. There is no option to play live TV on launch in Apple TV or Roku. There is one in the web browser but it doesn't seem to work.

Guess, like most features they implement - they don't work!

January, 2024: In Preferences on website, disabling (unchecking) "Play Live TV on Launch" does nothing. It still plays live TV. And there's no option one way or the other in Preferences in the DIRECTV Stream app on a smart TV. This is horrible as I see a game score live when I turn the app on to start watching a game that's being recorded. When will this be resolved?
