Picture Quality Comparison - DirecTV Stream vs YTTV
Good morning - Has anyone done comparisons re the picture quality of DTV streaming vs YTTV? Being forced to use both for the channels I want recently (NFL ST, etc.) and it feels like YTTV has really upped their game on picture quality.
Anyone else done any comparisons and seeing similar results?
Really want to stay with DTV because I still like the channel selection, etc., but if prices are going to continue to go up, would like to at least see incremental improvements.
Anyone else seeing this?

Yes I agree. YTTV's picture is much better than DTVS, it is much clearer and much less buffering. I have have been with DTV since 2002 and made the switch to streaming a few years ago. If they continue with ther price increases and don't improve on the picture quality and buffering, I will be canceling my package. The only reason I haven't done so yet is that DTVS carries my local sports networks and YTTV doesn't. YTTV would cost me about $20 -$30 less per month

Throughout the last five years, I've used many sources for live TV. Directv Stream, YTTV, Hulu w/Live TV and Verizon Fios.
DTVS has provided the best overall picture quality by far. MUCH better than YTTV. YTTV is great, don't get me wrong, and had it not dropped SNY from its lineup, I'd still be using it, but it compresses video much more than DTVS and it's very noticeable on certain channels. Verizon Fios used to be the gold standard for picture quality, but over the years it has also upped its compression and no longer holds that title. The user interface on Hulu w/Live TV is a mess, and I didn't use it very long.

I've just completed my streaming trial with DTVS and will be keeping it at least for a few months. Imo the picture quality is better than it's live streaming competitors but not by a lot. Maybe 10% overall. But I have not had any buffering as I did with YTTV. That didn't happen a lot with them but enough to be aggravating.
I don't mind paying a little more as I am now with Direct but if it gets to be $30-40 a month more then I will probably go with something else.
