NFL Network

I was told before I decided to sign up for your streaming service that you were working to resolve any legal disputes with the NFL network that were a result of a previous AT&T contract they had with the network. The NFL season is approaching and still no NFL network. Preseason is right around the corner and... When? I'm sure I'm not the only NFL fan that's disappointed. And there's now way I'll pay for an overpriced NFL package. Please resolve your issues with the NFL and put the network back on so I can resume with the Directv  I've enjoyed over the years!                                                                                     Thank you for your consideration in this matter!!!                                                                  Steve

Directv Stream has never carried the NFL network and no one knows if they ever will!  As far as not being happy with your Directv Stream why would you sign up for a TV service where a channel you felt was necessary was not available?  It was your choice to sign up for the service and you knew it was not carried when you signed up.  Whether Directv Stream adds the NFL network in the future no one here would know that as we are all just customers just like you and that is for Directv to negotiate with the NFL network.

We appreciate you want to watch the NFL season with us. Thank you for your feedback. It helps us to improve constantly. At the moment, NFL Network is only available on Satellite services, so I'll make sure your suggestion gets to the right team. Thank you for contacting DIRECTV. Santiago, DIRECTV Community Specialist

The NFL Network was available at the initial release of the service around 2016, but it has not been available for many years. Will it ever come back? Maybe in the future now that YouTube TV has the contract with the NFL. If so, you can expect a premium price for the service.

There is not a "legal dispute". Simply put, DIRECTV STREAM does not have a carriage agreement for the NFL Network. As for if or when that will change in the future, your guess is as good as ours.

As for the NFL Sunday Ticket, that is now the rights of YouTube. DirecTV (satellite) only has it for business (i.e. sports bars), which means rural customers with little to no internet are now out of luck.

And it is not our streaming service anymore than yours. This is a public forum of other customers. For official support you call, though in this situation that wouldn't help as those agents have no influence on what channels are carried or negotiated with.

You might try posting on the Facebook or Twitter accounts (links at the bottom of the page) as there have been comments saying that those are supposedly monitored by Marketing people and that would be much more likely than contacting Support about this.  However, I don't know that there's a good chance you'd get it for free, and I certainly have zero interest in having my rate increased to have it included with my package.  I'd be perfectly happy it is was added (perhaps with other sports channels I also have no interest in) into an extra cost sports add on.

As far as why it went away (years ago) - the NFL and AT&T (which owned DirecTV at the time) have given differing stories, but the bottom line is that when the carriage contract came up for renewal, the NFL (which never saw a dollar anywhere that it didn't want in its pocket) wanted more money to allow DirecTV to carry the channel than AT&T/DirecTV were willing to pay.

It wants to open the Youtube TV app b/c that's where you get NFL sunday ticket. If you don't live in the market that carries your NFL team on CBS or FOX then you will need to get NFL Sunday ticket.
