New user starting to think DirecTv is not for sports fans
I was watching my recording of the NBA game tonight when the recording just ended after 2 1/2 hours. I went scrambling to try to find the live channel (because often the channel number isn't given, only the name of the channel) and almost missed the exciting ending to the game, cursing all the time. Are we supposed to find what program comes immediately after each game and laboriously program each of those programs?? Can't you provide an optional additional extension, especially on series recordings?
Also, when you watch on or through your computer, the only way to fast forward or rewind between plays, pitches, etc. is by tapping on the on screen arrows inconveniently placed in the middle of the action, which tend to disappear after two clicks. Can't you put them down at the bottom and/or also connect them to the computer's forward/back arrow keys, which are much more convenient than finding the on screen arrows. Take a look at the MLB set up. This is very painstaking stuff when you want to just zip through the game instead of watching it passively. It all makes me regret switching from Xfinity.

Are you a satellite or streaming customer?
On the satellite equipment you can manually extend record times. But for Stream service you'll want to record the following show for any live sports broadcasts. Sometimes the DirecTV algorithm is able to automatically extend the recording, but you can't rely on that. And, as you've discovered, there's no way to manually "pad" recording times on DirecTV Stream.

The DTV sat guide is not updated in real time so it is impossible to extend live programs so DTV gives you the option to extend the recording time up to 3 hours when you set up the series.

Per their prior thread they are a streaming-only customer (no dish, having Gemini only). I've requested thread moved accordingly.

Well, it is not exactly clear how to respond to any of the above comments, or seek further guidance from them. I don't know who will be receiving this comment, but would appreciate help in that regard. I am also unfamiliar with the jargon: I do not have a dish, I do have the Gemini remote, but will also simultaneously use DIRECTV on another TV through my computer. Per the suggestion of Shannon 02, I canceled the NBA series recording, and tried to make a new series recording so that I might be able to extend all of the games automatically, as instructed. I did so, but did not see any prompts or anything that would give me that option. Furthermore, not all of these scheduled games are in my upcoming recordings list. All very confusing.

DirecTV is satellite (that you don't have). DIRECTV STREAM and DirecTV via Internet are the streaming-only versions. Don't need to know all the jargon, but at least know the name of your service.
Everything you post is public view. When you post in the thread, everybody in the thread receives a notification (unless they turned it off).
If you need to respond to a specific poster, you can start typing @ with their user name. Such as @jronn You will see a list of possible users to select when you start.
DirecTV in general has normally had sports as one of their biggest selling topics. However, games that run over have had their sore points for various reasons. Best that can be done is to manually record the program that comes on after the supposed end.
Hopefully the new owner will improve the streaming versions. But they are still in the middle of finalizing the transaction and all the internal moving parts from AT&T leaving the TV business.

@Juniper thanks for the tutorial. Forgot to mention that I have also looked in vain for slow motion, which I suspect is also not available? It might be useful for the new owners to solicit suggestions from subscribers for improvements to the service, no?
