New Siri Remote with Apple TV 4K
Why won’t the new Siri remote silver style control fast forward/rewind on my Apple TV? I see the 30/15 on the time line but the video doesn’t move. So tonight I tried it on my son’s Apple TV, he has the older black style and it works just fine. So there has to be an issue with the app and the new Siri style remote.

You have to pause on the remote, then ff/rw using the swipe function. Not intuitive agreed.

I found that to work. Just not as easy but a work around.

I’ve been using AppleTV, 3 versions, for five years. The previous series remotes work as intended and still do. The New Redesigned touchpad with buttons DOES NOT. Pausing and scrolling with the touchpad IS NOT how FF/RW works. The new remotes with different touchpad/ button configuration requires an addition to the DirectTV App to handle the new device. This is DirectTVs responsibility, Apple provides them the SW spec.
You can push DirectTV to update the device driver. I paired a previous version Siri remote I got on EBay, works fine. ATT hasn’t made any substantial updates in years. Let’s hope DirectTV is better. If you have an IPhone/ IPad there’s a remote on them that works.
(very slowly move your finger to the right or left edge of the touchpad. You’ll see @30 appear. IF IT WAS WORKING you push and it would FF or RW 30 seconds. Push it more than once it will count up 30,60,90 etc. push and it forwards that many seconds)

@DIRECTVhelp - there's absolutely no reason for @ricklroy to create a new post (thread). They are complaining about the same thing that the original poster was complaining about. You guys have been doing this (asking posters to unnecessarily create new threads) a lot - do you get paid to do that rather than actually trying to solve the posted issues? Make a bit of an effort...

What do I have to do to get DirecTV to update the app for the new AppleTV remote? I had DirecTV satellite for twenty good years until ATT bought them, all downhill after that. Have been streaming ever since. Tried ATT streaming years ago but found it wasn’t good using AppleTV. Fubo dropped channels so I’m trying it again. Channel selection and offers are good, can’t see how the app has kept up.
Please update the AppleTV device driver. Tried support via text and online. Ridiculous… kept going on circles. This isn’t rocket science

@DIRECTVhelp I send that. It’s a pain to have to try and fast forward. Go too far have to back up then go too far. By the time you put in all that work you’re better off watching commercials.

@DIRECTVhelp All up to date. It’s an issue on your end. The progress bar will show the reverse 15 or 30 forward but the video itself doesn’t advance or reverse. Tons of people who have the new Apple remote (silver Siri remote) are complaining of this issue. The old Apple TV remote (black remote) works fine. You need to escalate this to the software team so they can fix this.

I would also add that on other apps like amazon prime and netflix, you can just hold the siri button and say "fast forward 3 minutes" and it will do it instantly. This is a great feature absent from directvstream. If they don't update the driver for this to work, I will probably drop the sevice

Ditto bradgarner. This illustrates their “circular support”. I’ve tried to get them to acknowledge the issue. Nobody does, no DirectTV support person takes ownership. Like a ping pong game around and around we go. I’ve got a Roku and Firestick for temporary use. If they don’t fix it I’ll be history. It is really not a “problem “ this is NORMAL program maintenance. As devices, remotes and technologychange they Must keep app updated to support them. ATT didn’t do that. The AppleTV device driver was marginal five years ago and hasn’t changed. Let’s hope new management…..
