New Directv Stream customer, can’t login to Max or Showtime
I just signed up for Directv Stream this morning and with it I got 3 free months of HBO and Showtime. I have everything working on my tvs and firesticks, the streaming is working perfectly signed in with my login and password on 3 different fire sticks and my phone but when I attempt to login with my provider on Max or Showtime anytime app it says “incorrect login or password. Error code 201” even though I just logged in to my devices with those credentials. I also noticed that even though I’m choosing Directv Stream as my provider the login page says AT&T but maybe that doesn’t matter. It does the same thing whether I’m trying to log in to the max app on my phone or any of the fire sticks. Thanks for any help.

Can you use the credential on sho.com? Might be --you just signed up might take 24hrs to work on apps.

I have the same problem with trying to log into the Max app even though I have HBO/Max on my DIRECTV Stream package. I have a separate login id for DIRECTV and ATT, but I keep getting redirected to the ATT authorization page when I try to get access to the Max app. The DIRECTV app is working fine on all my other devices that I use to access programming.

Maybe it is that it takes 24 hours to work on the apps but that seems weird, I guess I’ll have to check today but I have no hope that it will work. I also have the same thing going on as Martyprz where I have an att account for my cell phone and internet but it’s separate from Directv. Every time I try to use Directv stream as a provider to sign in I notice the login page says AT&T and I can’t tell if that’s what’s causing my problem or if that’s normal since they own Directv.

Right, they have not updated the credentials page. Been like that for a long time.

Does that mean it doesn’t really matter that it says AT&T or that it does matter and there’s just no fix in sight?

Usually it does, but it seems this is a left over from all the conversions. It works. I have reinstalled the app several times with the redirect to AT&T.

Same issue here. I've been on two LOOONG chats with Directv Help and have gotten nowhere! It's super frustrating.

Update - now THREE chats with no progress. This needs to be addressed by Directv programmers, it seems.

I’ve been debating whether to just cancel hbo and showtime through direct tv and then sign back up for them to see if the apps will work the 2nd time but then I’m nervous it won’t work and I will have wasted my 3 free months for nothing.

Just to follow-up again, is that error code "error code 201" or "Care Code 201"? If "Care Code 201" then that is a DirecTV Satellite error code not a DirecTV Stream error code.

It says error code 201 whether I try DIRECTV or DIRECTV Stream as my provider. The guy on the phone has my even try using AT&T as the provider and I got the same error. The guy on the phone said that I should’ve gotten an email when I started service explaining how to register my account with max but I never got it and I also kind of doubt it will make a difference anyway

I talked to MAX and they said this is a call they are getting often. The issue is on the Directv side.

Same here. The lady I talked to at Max said that if DIRECTV had even properly registered me as having hbo max that my info would show up in their system even though I haven’t finished the process yet but I was not in there at all.
