Network heavily congested

Nightly while I'm trying to playback a recorded show....    The spinning wheel of death...    The network is heavily congested, (Edited per community guidelines) ... Oh I can go watch the program from the seasons list. But then I gotta watch, every (Edited per community guidelines) commercial too...

Fix your recorded program stream Direct TV!!! Rip off

What streaming device?

What sort of internet service do you have?

How is the streaming device connected to your home network?

What's your download speed at the streaming device?

This is really a networking issue, not a DirecTV Stream failure.

FireTV

DSL 150mbps

Wireless

80 mbps.

No, everything else in my house is off, Netflix, YouTube, Hulu... All my other stuff works awesome.

It's only when I watching Direct TV at peak hours or peak hours of direct TV recorded library streams.... Those are the worst....    Direct TV needs to upgrade there world! Period

I suppose it's easy to blame DirecTV's streaming infrastructure. But the fact is that lots of folks are using FireTV devices without this issue. How old is your FireStick? Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the DirecTV Stream App? Does the same issue happen if you're using a PC or phone/tablet?

You can't compare services like Netflix and Youtube to Dtv Stream. It is like comparing apples to oranges.

Agreed, I see quite a few people with the same issues....

I suppose there are some that need upgrades on their equipment or internet service. But my stuff is not outdated... And Direct TV is the ONLY service I have issues with. Sux

It's not DirecTV but DirecTV Stream. They are different services.

@Ludwick577 but with Netflix’s scenario right now, it’s probably the same lol

But in terms of on-demand to live streaming, those are two different tasks. Live streaming demands higher internet speeds and requires more power from the streaming device per se. In comparison, on-demand content is already uploaded on the cloud and the streaming devices can stream the content in lower speeds, there is always a 30 second buffer in case your internet speed is not as good, etc.

I have a hard—wired connection from a gigabit xFinity router through a FireTV cube. Same issue on Direct Stream on multiple channels. Not on other services. To be fair, the others are not live streams. But there others of us facing this issue. I have used YouTube TV, Sling, Hulu with live TV. All had a “buffering” issue to some degree. It’s easy to switch back and forth. I’m waiting a bit to see if this gets resolved (it has been getting worse lately) but if not I’ll check out one  of the others to see if they have improved.

that and the fact that the Guide doesn’t show channel logos anymore. I’ve tried customer support and have uninstalled/reinstalled, logged out and back in.  All of that. The only temporary fix that works is to clear cache it it doesn’t last long.

It has not improved and anyone who tries to deflect the issue to your network is either ill informed or works for Directv streaming.  There is always a chance it is your network but with the number of complaints, the more logical and truthful answer is Directv streaming has issues.

I'm having the same issue this morning while streaming on my Apple TV.   There is no one else up in the house and the only one using the internet is me.    Hard to understand what the "network congestion" is at 6:30 am on a Saturday!  FWIW, I have Uverse 100/20 and the speed test shows 105/22.

I just had it happen at 12 noon on a Tuesday, then I got the msg, can't load this content at this time, please try later, So I had to go back to the home page & go back to my recording. The program was recorded this morning. I use Fire stick also, could it be their problem?? New to using DTV stream. I have been told my modem is more than fast enough, & it is right next to my living room TV.

It is very frustrating! I too am the only one using the internet & watching DTVs, unless the cats have figured out how to use the internet!! haha

Congestion happens - it's the nature of the internet. Even had a web page not load? Exit and try again? Works fine.

It happens, but if you haven't recorded that program, then you will miss some of it turning it off & on again. Unfortunately I can't have a satellite at my apartment, so I went the streaming route. I like the price, but some of these interruptions are maddening. And if it happens during BB season, I will not be happy!!

Oh, it will happen again. Not happy, then there are alternatives.
