Need help using the Directv Stream app with an Amazon Firestick

I cannot use the Directv STREAM app with an Amazon Firestick.  I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it twice.  When I get to a sign in opportunity I scan the QR code showing on my TV screen, I select Continue on my phone screen which is confirming the code I see on my phone is the same as the code on the TV screen ... and EVERY time I have tried this, with and without minor variations, the message on my TV screen is "There was an issue.  There was a system error.  Please try again later" and my only option is to Exit.

Are you a new first time DirecTV customer or did you move over from satellite service? The reason I ask is because some people move over from satellite and try to sign opn with their satellite account sign on and it doesn't work, you need to create a new acccount for streaming service.

I am a new DIRECTV STREAM customer, not very new actually, it's been a few years now.  I never had a Directv satellite account.

I found and visited that information earlier today.  https://www.directv.com/support/article/000080503

I'm always concerned when I am asking about, or searching for, information about Directv STREAM and I am then referred to, or find, links which do not have the word STREAM in them, nor is the word STREAM mentioned in any of the content found.

That having been said, I have followed the advice I could find, including that one.  I uninstalled the Directv app from the Firestick and also from the Cloud.  I downloaded it again, installed it and opened it.  I had the same results.  I note that on other Firesticks the app is actually called Directv STREAM and in other cases it is called just Directv.  Does that indicate anything about what my issue might be?  Thank you!

One additional thing: Directv says compatible devices include "

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick (2nd generation or higher)

My Fire TV Stick 4K is updated to Fire OS 6.7.0.5 (NS6705/5380), updates last checked yesterday.

I'm guessing that's 2nd generation or higher?
