Multiple Homes

I have two homes, one primary and one more of a weekend / vacation home.   I have 3 TV's in my primary home and 2 in my other home.  Often I run down there on the weekend and my wife stays home.   Do I need two services then or can I use one service at both locations?

I have 2gb internet at my primary home, 1gb at my secondary both fiber connections so plenty of bandwidth.

That article says you can have two streaming devices connected to a TV outside your home.

So in my case, with 3 TV's in my primary home and 2 down in my vacation home, I should be fine.

Unless I am reading that wrong.

Hey @Alyeska, thanks for bringing that to our attention.

You are correct. You can use DIRECTV STREAM on up to 20 compatible devices connected to your home network at the same time. And, use up to three of those streams on the go.

Keep in mind there are some exclusions:

1- Any streams you use out of your home network count toward your 20 total stream limit. Only two streaming devices connected to a TV can be accessed out of the home. For example: one DIRECTV STREAM device and one Firestick.
2- Your TV package.
3 - Some networks only allow you to have three streams at the same time. This includes both watching in your home or on the go. These networks include: (Fox channels: Big Ten Network, Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes and Fox local channels STARZ, NHL Network, SHOWTIME)

Let us know if you have further doubts, we are glad to help.

The bottom line is my wife can be home doing her normal viewing  (Food network and Nat Geo) in Anchorage and I can run to our second home in Soldotna on Saturdays and steam football on the Roku TV there.

I get some networks have restrictions but by and large that scenario would work.

Thanks!

We have Directv does that mean we can stream the Directv on a roku at our vacation home in another state? Sorry we are pretty new to the steaming stuff. My husband doesn’t like Netflix and Hulu. He likes the Directv satellite we get at our primary home.

@Debra261 , DirecTV Satellite and DirecTV Streaming are totally separate services. You can't stream DirecTV Satellite in another home. But you can use your DirecTV account credentials to activate streaming apps for some of the channels in your DirecTV Satellite package.

Okay thank you. We do have the directv app on our ipads that allows us to stream some of our channels from our service. Can we do this on a roku device as well hooked up to the tv in the vacation home? Sorry for my ignorance.

No.  Because you are still asking about Satellite service [in a STREAM thread].  The Satellite service does not have an app that runs on a Roku (or any other dedicated streaming device).  The Satellite service apps run only on mobile platforms (phones, iPads) and won't display if you try to connect them to a TV.  Do not confuse the app for DIRECTV (satellite service) with the app for DIRECTV stream.

Thanks for reaching us @Debra261 . We're here to help.

You can stream your DIRECTV Satellite service through our DIRECTV app, from a Mac or PC.

In order to stream from Roku device would be necessary to get DIRECTV STREAM which is compatible with Roku devices.

I have two homes as well.  At my second home, I have a roku device on one tv and the other tv has a roku built in.  Am I able to stream on these two networks at the same time or how can I add a second network to my account without having to add two separate accounts?  I am getting an error when I am logged into both networks of "Too Many Streams".  Is it possible to add a second network?  I see this option for $10... it this what this is for?

Just to help anyone out, here’s what happened. We were able to get several live channels by downloading the channel app to the roku and it had us log in to our directv account and my husband was able to watch several channels. Both live and stream on demand programs so yay!

@bcbsncjlj my daughter is logged in at home, I am trying to watch the service and still getting the error on having Too Many Streams.  I am not sure how to resolve this.  I call in to customer service and they do not understand my issue...
