Making DirecTV Stream App Simpler to Use for Elderly

My wife and I just bought a Samsung TV for the bedroom of my mother-in-law who lives with us.  My mother-in-law has no problem using the the "main" TV in our family room that has the DirecTV Stream box and DirecTV Stream remote.  She struggles, however, using the DirecTV Stream App and remotes used by smart TV's or things like the firestick.  After buying the Samsung we are similarly disappointed that it is more difficult to use than she can probably handle.

Is there a device that can be added to smart TV's to make the DirecTV stream experience more like that of the main TV with the DirecTV stream box and remote?  For example, something with a remote where the guide button actually brings up the DirecTV Stream guide and the numbers actually change the channel?  Is that what the Gemini Air does?

Yes. Just purchase a proprietary DirecTV Stream device for the Smart TV.

Thank you.  To be clear, is Gemini Air an example of one of those devices?

Yes. It uses the same remote as the box.
