Local Channels Away From Home

It all depends on what streaming device you're using. We travel in an RV and can view our homebase locals on our Roku and PCs (which don't have "location services"), and we get the locals for where we're camping on our iPhone/iPad (which do have "location services"). 

Also, make sure you set up the device at your true home base not at the traveling location.

The local channels you get with DIRECTV STREAM are based on your billing ZIP Code, and as it was previously stated, some devices have the option to activate location services. The devices that have this feature are the DIRECTV STREAM device, mobile devices, tablets and Apple TVs. If you use a connected TV devices or a web browser you will get the local channels of your primary home location.

I want to DVR something (news) on my home network channel, but my DirecTV app only shows the local channels where I am (away from home) How can I get around that? Thank you.

What device are you using? You need to at least use a device that does have location services or GPS.

I’m using the DirecTV app on my iPhone. I tried turning location services on/off, but that doesn’t work. I think at one time I could access my home channels. Thank you.

This pretty much always happens with iOS devices. Try using a PC instead. When we're traveling our Roku and laptops always show our home location stations while our iOS devices use our actual location. 

Usually PCs, tablets, and cell phones have location services or GPS..You need to use either a Roku or Fire Stick.
