I may be somewhat unsophisticated on this so let me clarify as best I can. I have DIRECTV with a multitude of channels (ABC, NBC, etc). In addition, I can download apps. Netflix, MAX, Prime, Hulu. All the apps work except Hulu. Even though I’m allowed to download it, even though I can sign in to it, even though I can see icons of the different shows offered on it, once I click open one of those shows (say, Fargo), then I either get a blank screen, or an error message saying the show isn’t available. When I called Hulu I was told (after a couple hours) by Level 2, that DIRECTV doesn’t play Hulu, they aren’t friends.
That is very strange I have the Gemini and my Hulu plays just fine. This must be an error between the 2 on your end. I would try doing a red button reset to see if that takes care of that issue. If that does not work then I would try uninstalling Hulu and then reinstalling it on your Gemini to see if that takes care of the error.
I did all that. I really put a lot of time into this. Deleted the anpp. Reset things. Spoke to Level 2. And Hulu worked just fine for the first several weeks I had DIRECTV (switched from Comcast). This happened a week earlier also and spoke with Hulu then as well. They did something on their end that restored Hulu, but only for about a week. Then it died again. It’s odd that Hulu icon shows up, that you can download it and open it, that you can see all the show icons, even open them, just can’t play the movie.
This has to be on Hulu's end then. I have used Hulu on my direct box just fine for more than a year now and I have not had any errors like that when using.
Well yes, it’s on Hulu’s end, sort of. Hulu is saying (unless they’re just brushing me off, not unheard of with Help Desk staff), they’re not supported by DIRECTV. I can watch the Hulu beta with commercials. Maybe I’ll give DIRECTV a call.
so I got DIRECTV around Dec 2024 and I was able to watch Hulu for awhile, then, despite having the icon and all appearances that I had Hulu, it wouldn’t stream. Calls to Hulu and DIRECTV help desks resulted in being told Hulu and DIRECTV weren’t friends and didn’t play in the same sandbox, so no, I couldn’t get Hulu on DIRECTV. But then the other day my DIRECTV stopped working altogether. Another call the their help desk resulted in finding out an update didn’t finish updating and was stuck. The problem was resolved, my DIRECTV now works and I also now have Hulu. And the DIRECTV tech I spoke with, a very sharp woman, said she’s never heard that DIRECTV didn’t support Hulu.

Do you have another device, smart TV, Fire Stick, Roku, etc, that you can try to get Hulu on?

Most streaming devices that support DirecTV Stream can also download the Hulu App. What streaming device are you using?

That is very strange I have the Gemini and my Hulu plays just fine. This must be an error between the 2 on your end. I would try doing a red button reset to see if that takes care of that issue. Yes, I have three other TV’s, all with Fire Sticks, plus the 1 Gemini. Hulu works just fine on the other TV’s, and on my laptop, and phone.

Hummm, go figure. But Hulu tells me they don’t play on DIRECTV. You have the “No commercials “ version?
