Can you explain Flashing, in detail, as to what it does?

Yes. No mater what I'm watching, the screen goes black and then returns to the show, then it goes black and then returns to show. Only about 2 seconds between each flash. Kind of like a camera shutter. Eventually, about one to two hours later, it resumes normal viewing.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have a Vizio smart tv. I don't know the name of the box but it came from ATT and has HDMI cable to tv and goes to my Wifi box.
Sorry I don't know the names.

OK so you have the DirecTV Streaming box. Are you using WiFi or Ethernet? If WiFi try using Ethernet. Been a lot of issues with the box via WiFi. If that does not help the a factory reset may be required. Have you attempted to do a factory reset? Hold red button down 20-30 sec and it will reset itself.

I have reset it several times. I am using Ethernet on the DirecTV box and the wifi box. Does it make any difference which Ethernet port on wifi is used? Mine is hooked into #2 of 4.

What internet speed do u have? I'd also try a different HDMI cable or HDMI port on your tv.

I'm sorry. I don't know other than it's Att 1000. I have tried the different cable ports on my TV and got a new cable from ATT. I'm getting ready to throw it out the window. It should not be this difficult. Thanks anyway.

Very few issues with the DirecTV Stream box (C71K). WiFi issues are almost always a local WiFi or internet issue. You're grasping at straws if you think these issues are wider spread than the Samsung TV App.

Hey antleranne...it's 2 yrs later and I am having the same flashing issue that you describe, and I have a Visio smart tv. But I am using wi-fi, not ethernet. Problem showed up when I switched from my Amazon Firestick to help troubleshooters help with another problem. They wanted me to try the Gemini receiver/remote to see if my problem disappeared. Now I have your flashing problem. Can't win for losing!
