How to get rid of "Activate Sports Mode now" message
I'm watching a basketball game, and there is this annoying message across the middle of the screen saying,
"Activate Sports Mode now" Press and hold OK for stats, updates, and more.
I do not want to use Sports mode. I just want to watch my show.
How do I get rid of that annoying message.
I tried hitting exit, and cycling power.
I even followed the message by holding the OK button. But all it did was show me what other sports shows are on.
I hit exit and the message is back.

What streaming device are you using?
Have you tried resetting it?

Why didn’t you post a resolution? I have the same issue, the Activate Sports Mode pop up won’t go away?

The question is NOT how to use it, but how to disable it. I too just want to watch a sports program. I'm not interested in scores, statistics, etc. Without fail, almost every time I go to a sports program, the sports mode prompt comes up.

Pretty sure sports mode settings are in the preferences under settings. Which device are you using?

The FAQ only addresses how to access, NOT prevent it from coming up in the first place!!!! I would rather not see this ever single time I go to a sports channel. As an example, I kept seeing helpful tips on how I could navigate the guide using voice commands. Or was something that kept coming up consistently over a week or more and then it went away on it's own. For sports mode, I don't want to keep seeing the prompt. Device is the Gemini box.

You turn it on or off. That's all they are to do.

So then the FAQ to access it, but considering how it just comes up automatically, the FAQ isn't really needed in this case; and then there's the exit button to close it, but no setting to make it not show in the first place?

Think I found a solution. I had to restart my streaming account. After that, this message showed up and I couldn't get rid of it! I ended up deleting all of my selected sports teams and then the message disappeared. After watching a game for a few minutes, I added back a couple of teams. The message was gone! Now, when I press and hold "OK", the list shows up on the left edge. Press EXIT and they go away, but no permanent message on the screen come back. ... not yet!

That’s a complicated workaround, especially while watching a live game. Surely the folks at DIRECTV can do better. But thanks for sharing.

@Wmorton263 - your “remove favorites” trick worked for me. I did have to turn off then turn on DirectTV to see the message go away. I readied my favorite teams and so far, the message has not returned.
