How to get Apple TV to load?

Apple TV will no longer load on my DirecTV streaming device. I have tried several things to troubleshoot including turning the device on and off, turning the TV on and off, clearing the cache, forcing the app to stop, but nothing works. I tried to uninstall the app but since it came preloaded I cannot see any way to uninstall and then reinstall the app. What can I do?

Have you restarted your modem and router?

I have not. I hate to screw up everyone else’s tv too. But I can. Why are all other apps working tho?

No idea. That's a question for DirecTV. Apple has always been an issue with the service. Are the other sets using Apple or other streaming devices?

Can you make your phone a hot spot and try to see if it works using cellular?

Go into settings---apps. Find the Apple TV app and disable it. Then re-enable it. See if that fixes it. Also go into google play store and make sure all the apps are updated.

Thank you for all the suggestions. The app worked fine on my phone. I did go into settings but there was no option to disable the app.

I finally got into a chat with a real person on the Directv website and they did a reset, which resulted in Apple TV loading correctly.  Thanks so much!

Glad you got the app working. But for future reference--yes there is an option to disable Apple tv. Mine is disabled right now. If you go into settings---then click APPs....click the AppleTV then scroll down... the disable link is there under "uninstall updates"
