How do I extend the recording time for sporting events?
I would like to be able to add time to the scheduled recording of many sporting events. I can't find any options that allow me to do this. T

What sporting event is it? Technically, DIRECTV STREAM should automatically extend the recording for you. Although, at this time, there is no manual way to extend a recording. You would just have to record the next program that airs after the sporting event.

Thanks for response! Our first recording was the Golf Open which did not auto extend. Do understand the suggestion to record show after and will do so but that is LAME DirectTV!!

FYI not everything right now is getting auto extended
https://www.directv.com/support/stream/article/KM1227364)
Extract:
Note: Sports recordings are automatically extended where content continues to stream beyond the programmer’s scheduled time. Applies to the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA leagues, NCAA Football and Basketball (Division I), Soccer (UEFA, FIFA) and PGA Tour Golf. Extended sports recordings contingent upon third-party recording service availability and varies by packages, channel subscriptions & billing region. Blackout restrictions apply. Data connection required. Recordings expire after 9 months. In a series recording, max 30 episodes stored with unlimited hours of cloud DVR and max 10 episodes stored with 20 hours of cloud DVR (oldest deleted first which may be in less than 9 months). Restrictions apply

I haven’t seen the recordings extending, even when it says so on the screen. I miss the endings of baseball games if I forget to record the next show. Even worse, instead of stopping on the screen, the recording jumps back a bit and you don’t release at first you’re seeing an inning again!

We're happy to help with your DIRECTV STREAM recordings doubts. First we want to show you how you can record your favorite games and shows with cloud DVR.
Also, no need to worry when your team’s games go overtime or extra innings. DIRECTV STREAM will now auto-extend the recordings of your sports event, so you don’t miss any action if the game goes overtime.
Let us know if you need further assistance, we're here for you.

Until they get all the kinks worked out of the auto extend for sporting events. If it's some thing I don't want to take a chance on missing I try to DVR the next couple of shows after the event.

Every baseball game I have set to record has extended. Including last nights All Star Game. Every Cardinal game I have on series recording has extended since late last season.

Direct tv stream does not have the auto extend for sports program as they say they do. It makes no sense that the direct tv stream simply lies about having this feature. The customers are not stupid. I do know we had no problems with auto extend when we subscribed to You Tube TV. It worked every time and we never once missed the end of golf tournaments or any other sports games. The only problem is, they no longer had Fox Sports North (Bally sports north now) and we watch that channel most frequently.

Maybe it is the customers. 🙄
They definitely do have auto extend, just not on ALL sporting events.

Direct Tv stream may say they have auto extend when golf PGA goes overtime , although we have not experienced it. It definitely does not have that feaure for the women on the LPGA tour. We have been cut off with one hole to grow numerous time. It is very annoying and frustrating to watch a tournament form3 hours and get cut off at the vey peak of the outcome. What the heck? That makes no sense. Why can You Tube TV provide thst flawlessly?

When I look at my upcoming PGA record setting there is nor “more info” screen. There is just an option to cancel recording. I am using a ROKU on the tv and my I pad and neither interface shows an option .

I have to record the show after the Texas Rangers game on BSSW. The game preset time is 3 hours and games are generally longer than that. It does not auto extend even when it says so.

Hello @dca7247, we'll be hapy to share the information about the auto-extend on the NFL games.
Please keep in mind that extended sports recordings contingent upon third-party recording service availability and varies by packages, channel subscriptions & billing region.
