Hockey on Bally Sports North has choppy video
The last three Minnesota Wild games have been unwatchable due to flickering, choppy video on BSN, but only when using a Roku device (two different ones, two different displays). The video is fine on Apple TV 4k device. Did something change? The video had been flawless for years prior to last week's games.

No, no changes have occurred in the past few weeks that would cause the issues you are facing. I'd suggest restarting your Roku device (s) and ensuring that the DIRECTV STREAM app is fully updated. You may also try reinstalling the DIRECTV STREAM application on the Roku device (s) as well as ensuring that the WiFi connection to your Roku devices is strong (you can run a speedtest to check your upload and download speeds at speedtest.net).

Already did all those things. Hockey games on other channels are fine. Previously recorded Wild games (prior to about 12/20) are fine.

Both Roku devices are hardwired LAN connections.

Thanks for the information. Given that both of your Roku devices are experiencing issues with that specific channel, it could have been a server issue with DIRECTV STREAM at the time. If it happens again, I'd report the issue to them (number in my greeting below) and mention the streaming device platform you are using.

I just checked again and it's been the past four consecutive games on four different days. All games recorded prior to 12/23 are playing perfectly smoothly. Something in the transmission chain must have changed after the 12/19 game (the 12/21 game was on a different channel and is perfect).

I’m having the same issue with Bally Sports Midwest using Roku. It looks fine when streaming on my phone.

Same issue with Bally Sports Midwest on a hardwired Roku device. Applies to Blues games and also Billikens games. The most recent Billikens game also happened to be on ESPN Plus. Switching from Bally’s to ESPN fixed the issue. So it is either Bally’s or DirectvStream.

Having same issue with Directv streaming of Bally Sports North MN Wild games through multiple Roku devices. Last 5 games or so. Has never been an issue before.
Hockey games on other networks stream just fine.

I’m having the same issue. I connected with DirecTV support and they had me uninstall and reinstall the app. No dice. They sent the issue to their engineering team for further research and gave me a $15 credit for the hassle. Workaround is to watch the Minnesota Wild games on the Bally Sports North app. That has its own issues, but the picture quality is good.

Same issue on BSN Ohio on Roku connected with Fiber. Cavs and Blue Jackets games nearly unwatchable with jitter. Interestingly, commericals play fine. It's only the game feed. Advertisers not complaining...

Same issue here. Occurs on all my three TV's using DirectTV Stream via Roku and AND two different locations (homes), hence the issue isn't my TV, Roku unit or wifi as it occurs on all three TV's.

I started streaming DirecTV through my 4660X Roku Ultra device today and found that the video was intolerably choppy on all DirecTV channels. The other streaming services through this Roku device do not have that problem. I am entirely hardwired from my very reliable fiber optic connection through Cat 6a ethernet cables to my Roku device, and then HDMI to my TV. The DirecTV and Roku support websites were no help. I tried restarting everything. Then I tried different settings on the Roku device and found that turning off the "Auto-adjust display refresh rate" setting under Advanced display settings made the DirecTV video much smoother. There is still the occasional audio/video skip, but it is watchable now.

Thanks @Hardwired98106 for this guidance. But older Roku devices don’t have this setting. Mine is a 3800X.
I would encourage as many people as possible to open a ticket with DirecTV on this. This will put more pressure on them to come up with a fix. They also gave me a $15 bill credit for the inconvenience.
