Google voice on Gemini will not change to a DirecTV channel

My dad’s remote will use the voice option on his Gemini to open apps, stream shows, check weather, etc.

However, when he says “ESPN” “Fox” or other channels it says “I’m having trouble connecting to DirecTV” 

I see MULTIPLE posters having this issue and no real answers.

I have reset the box, reconnected the remote, checked for updates, looked through every setting I can find. Nothing is fixing it. He is 70 years old and this was a blessing until it randomly stopped working last week. 

ITS NOT THE INTERNET SO DO NOT TELL ME TO CHECK THE INTERNET CONNECTION.
