Get asked over and over again if I want to use Google Assistant
I keep getting asked if I want to use Google Assistant. It just pops up randomly in the middle of watching a TV program. When it happens I am just watching, I am not using my remote or anything. It's really annoying. Every time I say that I don't want to use it, another box comes up to verify, and I again say I don't want to use it.
Maybe an hour later or so it can randomly just pop up again. It also then interrupts my TV programming, and I have to go back and start over by finding it in my library.
I've restarted the system and this has not helped.

If you do not use your Google Assistant then you can turn it off in settings. If you need help doing this go into the settings, then go to device preferences, then go to Google Assistant then turn it to the off position.

We appreciate you sharing the pictures. After pressing No thanks, press the option that says No thanks, I don't want Assistant on this device to completely disable Google Assistant. Each time you press the MIC key to access Google Assistant, that must be the only time that you receive the screen to Search account all your TV apps to allow Google to share their request with DIRECTV and their TV's apps.

@DIRECTVhelp Is it possible there’s something going on in the system from your end? We’ve started having the same exact issue today - no one near the remote, but a “Do you want to turn on Google Assistant?” (which we purposely turned off in the main settings) screen keeps popping up in the middle of our program, which we’re watching through the DirectTv Paramount app.
This has never happened before, now it’s already happened 3 times in the past hour.

@directtvhelp I click both "no thanks" every time.
We aren't touching the remote or pushing the microphone button even if happens. It just keeps popping up randomly.

Can you please unpair your remote and then pair it again? Unpair your remote control from the Directv stream box by pressing and holding the (-) dash and (app) buttons at the same time until the remote blinks twice replace the batteries in the remote with fresh batteries if they are the ones that came with the remote. Then press the little red button on the side of your Directv Stream box for 15-20 seconds or until your box restarts. Then after your box restarts press the fast-forward and rewind buttons at the same time to repair your remote to your box. If this fixes this issue on one of your boxes then do it to all your streaming boxes. Please let us know if it works or not. Kharl, DIRECTV Community Specialist

@MotownMrs I hope the “unpair your remote then repair it” advice provided doesn’t screw up your system as badly as it screwed ours. It’s like a hard factory reboot, and now several of our regularly-used apps don’t work at all (like Amazon Prime), we had to go back and download each app & slog through the tedious process of logging back into every single one, and now the box just keeps randomly restarting for no discernible reason.
I guess we should have just put up with the mildly annoying request to turn on Google Assistant. This is way worse. 😤

We completely understand your hesitation, and we absolutely don't want you to lose access to your other apps. Please kindly refer to https://www.directv.com/support/article/000095432 to properly unpair and pair your remote. This will simply refresh your remote connection to the device and will not do a factory reset. Please do let us know if this works, and you may follow the same steps on your other Gemini devices. DIRECTV genuinely appreciates your patience. - Jayson, DIRECTV Community Specialist.

Definitely something bad is happening from DirecTV side. I’m a new customer and within a month totally frustrated with the remote. This new thing with Google Assistant taking over could be the end for me. None of the suggested tricks works - the questions keep coming back as if google assistant unselected is not registered. Previously I could change channels with voice commands. Now it’s all gone. Going backwards DirecTV!!! Making me mad.

Yep did that with the telephone support person. Finally what fixed it was supplying a Google account. All of a sudden the voice commands like “tune to …” began to work instead of getting a choice of non stop login screens
just a reset will not fix the issue
