Gemini Air: Two separate TVs - 2nd TV does not retain previous channel setting
Gemini Air:
I have two separate TVs. One in living room and one in the bedroom. The TV in the bedroom only gets used at night when I go to bed. Same channel every night, sleep timer is set for 60 minutes. Never as issue.
Recently when I turn it on it goes to the channel that was last on in the living room. Why all of a sudden did this change? I think I can trace it back to the update when the Home/Guide button up date occurred. It’s not a major issue just annoying.

That's the way it's suppose to work. Last channel is based on the account holder not the device. Since the service does not have profiles that is how it knows what was watch last by the user.

Not sure I agree with that. This only started several weeks ago, prior to that it was the same channel as the night before.

I have had the service since conception, and it's always (almost, nothing is perfect) defaulted to the last channel watched from any device. Rather, I am at home or away. If something has changed with the addition of the Gemini device, I am not aware of it. I don't use one, only true streaming devices like Roku, Fire Sticks, tablet, phone, etc. Since the Gemini is proprietary to DirecTV, maybe something has changed.

Thanks. Gemini Air does have some glitches and is skinny on options.
Previously I was using a Roku platform and streaming uTube TV. Roku had an option for volume leveling, GA does not. Thought I had that fixed with a suggestion from another user, but sadly no. Whenever a commercial comes on the volume goes up.
That was the only issue I had up until this recent update. So now I have 3 issues and the volume issue is at the top of my list. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to have to have the receiver remote in my hand with watching TV at night.
Sorry, I really like this platform but he issues make it unpleasant.

Here is the response I got to the same issue, except mine is with standard Gemini receivers, and despite the opinion of 2 other ‘experts’, including the ones made on a similar post I started several days ago, it has NOT always been like that! It only stayed in the last week or 10 days. If I watched channel 9 in the room and turned it off, watched channel 4 in the kitchen and turned it off then went back to the room and turned it back on it would still be at channel 9 as it was when I turned it off. Now it would turn on to channel 4, the last channel watched in the kitchen. Ridiculous !

Thank you!!!!!! Good to know I’m not losing my mind.
I’m fairly new to DTV and I hope this last update is not typical of how they do updates.
I have discovered more glitches with this recent update makes you wonder about their internal user testing.

@EKZ no, you are not losing your mind, lol! Other than that, we quite like the DTV streaming we have had since July. And up until maybe 10 days ago each Gemini receiver help the last channel viewed, it did NOT pick up the last channel viewed on a different receiver. So something changed in the last update. It's a minor irritation for sure, but like you I have one receiver that I use specifically when I am changing bedding, folding laundry etc and it stays on the channel I watch while doing that. Not anymore. Now it turns on to whatever channel was last tuned in on any other receiver. Glad it's not just me too!

This same thing is happening to us with two TVs in two separate rooms/floors and used to not happen at all. Now whatever channel is watched on one TV shows up on the other TV when it is turned on. This is very annoying and just started about six to eight weeks ago. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

@Corgimom49 not until the genius programmers who screwed it up in the first place, correct their error. While it's not the end of the world, it is annoying to those of us who want the same channel to come on as when we turned it off. To those of you who don't care, fine, but don't ask us what the 'big deal is', it is to us.

Your bedroom TV likely switches to the last channel used in the living room due to a recent Gemini Air software update that synchronizes channel settings across devices. This update might have introduced a feature that automatically transfers the last-watched channel from one TV to another.
To resolve this, check the settings on each TV and in the Gemini Air menu. Some updates add a “channel sync” or “continue watching” option. Look for options related to channel synchronization or saving recent settings, and disable them if necessary.
