Fix for the recorded programs starting in mid programs
Directv stream app will start a recorded program in some location than at the beginning requiring to rewind the program to the start. Using the option to restart the program vs resume fails to work. There must be a bug in the software. Using an Apple TV box.

Same thing has been happening to me. Using Apple TV - major spoilers while watching recorded Women's World Cup 2023 and match starts in the 89th min!! It's not consistent but has spoiled too many of these matches for us when doesn't start from the beginning. WHY?!? Please fix this!

I have the same issue. Recorded program starts playing near the end of the recording, not at the beginning when playing for the first time. There is no option offered to start at the beginning when playing a freshly recorded program for the first time. Playing via latest model of AppleTV 4K. I deleted the Direct TV app and reinstalled. No help. The only solutions found so far:
1. Manually skip back through the entire program to the beginning.
2. Restart AppleTV. Existing recordings then start at the beginning.
Please help me solve this issue.

I have tried to reset my entire AppleTv and still have same issue. I think the problem lies in the Directv stream app but can’t verify it specifically. Other apps such as Netflix, MGM, etc appear to operate normally. I do have some tv using Amazon firestick but can’t remember if this issue appears on these platforms.

I'm having the same problem, using nvidia shield. Been doing it for quite a while. Gotta be a software glitch. I think it might have something to do with me starting to fast forward right away.

I have this problem also. I was considering switching to Directv streaming but this is a huge problem that is a deal breaker. I can't have some sporting event start playing in the middle of the game. This needs to be fixed.

Here's a tidbit of info on this topic.... when I had this problem, I was watching Family Guy from the DVR. I had 30 or so Family Guys episodes on the DVR. A couple of them were not completely watched, you know, the bar at the bottom was like 3/4 watched. Those episodes were just sitting there in the DVR recordings. I was watching other episodes of Family Guy from the DVR and when the episodes were over I didn't touch anything, I just let the episode finish and go to the next episode on it's own. Each time, it would start playing the next episode, it was at the 20:26 mark of the episode. After this happened 3 times, I deleted the episodes form the DVR that had been partially watched. Once I did that the problem stopped....when it went to the next episode, it started from the beginning. Not sure if this might mean something to someone at Directv as far as diagnosing the issue.

Brand new subscriber and 100% having this issue. Not just the DVR but on-demand programming is doing the same thing. The "Start Over" button does NOTHING. It starts back where it picked up the first time, which is usually 97% thru the show I want to watch. Seems like a pretty straightforward bug, it assumes wherever you left is the starting point for everything vs the show you were watching.

I have found that it happens on recorded shows when you fast forward right away. If you don't it seems to be fine.

I restart Apple TV and it sometimes fixes the problem.
The first time I play a recorded program, like the evening news, it starts at a random spot. “Start over” does nothing. I exit the program and select and play another recording. Exit and go back to the original recorded program. Select “Start over” and the recording plays from the beginning.

Using firestick. If I have multiple recordings of a show and scroll to the oldest, the show starts at the end and clicking on "start from the beginning" does nothing but start at the same end point. If I select the newest recording, it plays correctly from the beginning. Very strange. Why can't Directv fix this???
