Extend DVR recording time

This is so frustrating.  I’ve missed to many AEW endings on TNT & TBS due to programs going into overtime and not ending at scheduled time. 
I’ve attempted to resolve by setting DVR to record the following scheduled  program but that seldom works. 
Never had this issue with Uverse. 
Direct TV Stream resolve this issue or we’re through. There’s got to be a way like uverse where you can manually extend program recording times.
