Error 30002-018

I can’t watch my channel.  “Please try watching this content on another device, as it can’t be streamed to this one”.  I’ve only had this service for 2 weeks.  Now my favorite channel isn’t working.

Anyone know what to do to fix this?

Good morning @traj,

Thank you for reaching out. The content owner does not allow the program to be played on the devices being used. You can try streaming on another device to view the content.

Please reach back out if there's anything else we may assist you with.

Thanks, but that makes no sense!  I am paying to watch that channel.  Why have I been able to watch  everything on that channel for the past 2 weeks?  Just yesterday this started occurring.

What has changed???  Please don’t use a canned reply.  Give it some thought.

@traj,

It is strictly up to the content owner (network) on what shows or movies can be be streamed on certain devices or in certain locations.

We apologize for any inconveniences. Let us know if there's anything else we may assist you with.

What channel and what programs are you referring to.

The answer given is a very real answer, streaming TV has different rules when it comes to programs and the rights of the programs on how they can be broadcasted.

So you’re saying that Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has started doing this in the last 24 hours?  I refuse to believe that as I have been watching that channel for decades.

As I type this, I am able to watch a movie on that channel, while an hour ago I received the error.  That has NEVER happened before.  So you’re saying that it is hit or miss when attempting to watch that channel?

Its not the channel, its the program/s that you will get the error message.

Most of the time it is older programs or movies.

TCM doesn't own all the content they show, and some of it that they license from other sources does not give them the rights to allow streaming access (that is, the restriction is in the licensing for specific movies or other content).  So some (relatively small) percentage of the TCM content is blocked from streaming services.  You wouldn't have seen that on cable or satellite because those aren't covered by this restriction on streaming.  The same issue very occasionally comes up with other types of content (it's been seen on some sports programming, for example), but the most common reports here have been about TCM.  One theory is that these restrictions were probably targeting other type of streaming, and because the live streaming services are relatively new, they got caught up also.  If that is the case, one would hope the next time these licenses are revised, they will carve out an exception for these services.

Thank you for the clear concise explanation.  A letter to TCM is in order.

Hi, @traj

Thanks for reaching out, we understand and hear your voice. The error code you are getting is hit and miss, it can also show up on any network that you watch. However, when you get this error code, you can try changing devices. DIRECTV STREAM can be used on PC's, Laptops, phones and tablets along with a variety of other streaming devices. Changing the device you try to watch on when you get that code, may help enable you to view the movie you'd like to watch. Let us know if you have more questions.

I purchased this service to watch television as I have for years.  Had I known the limits of DIRECTV STREAM, I might not have subscribed. I’m not about to try watching on an iPad when I get the error on my TV.

Coincidentally, a technician came to the house and found some problems in the line and corrected them.  I haven’t seen the error since he left.

Why am I getting this error code attempting to watch my local NBC affiliate? Had I known the limitations of AT&T I would have never subscribed.

Same here (Edited per community guidelines).  There is sometimes I can watch the show. And sometimes be watching it 10 mins in and then this message pops up. The content owner doesn't allow to be played is bullsh@t if you ask me. Why are we paying for service if we can't watch the channel when we want to. Spectrum cable we are able to watch it. I don't thank att is paying to able to watch my opinion.

This is not right, I get the error too and got the same message last year when I tried watching Rudolph the red nose reindeer and frosty the snowman. Are you telling me you guys can’t communicate with the owner of this and other programs to fix this problem. Like I said the same thing happened last Year. This means you are aware of this situation and have done absolutely nothing about it. COME ON AT&T  quit letting your paying customers get the shaft

Dtv stream does not own the rights to those xmas shows. None of the streaming services are allowed to stream them. If you want to watch then there are tons of other way to see them.
