Directv Stream - Roku app

Hi,

I want my elderly Mom to switch from xfinity, but she understandably has a difficult time navigating the directv stream roku interface. I'm technical by nature and appreciate flexibility and functionality. But even for me; I find the menu'ing to be overly busy and hard to navigate and worse of all, slow and sluggish. My Mom is leaning toward staying with comcast because the directv roku interface is too convoluted.

What is really needed in the setup menu is a switch to only showing the channel guide and an option to show favorites, but get rid of the Home screen. I like the cursor up to show the most recently watched and some other features, but in as much as this interface has a great deal of "hidden" and not hidden functionality, in it's current form, it is bloated and slow. Even exiting the channel takes forever. Roku programming should provide a way to release the interface back to the Roku home screen while the app closes as a background process. Directv Stream app should not hold onto visual control while it's doing whatever it's doing that takes so long to exit the app; Imho. I think you're going to loose a potential customer due to making the app good for the programmer and people with perfect vision. Oh, one other thing... big thing... no way to enlarge anything other than captions. As a result of the  busyness of the screen in order to fit every last optional component onto it at the same time, everything has to be tiny. I can barely read descriptive text from a tv across the room, and nor can my Mom. If you cater only to young people watching on a screen less than 5 feet away, then you're going to loose business.

You should get a Gemini box (also called Directv Stream box) for them. It is a small box 4x4 inches with remote. The remote has channel numbers for channel changing and shortcut buttons for the guide, dvr list, record, previous channel. It gives you a cable like experience. You can get them at Walmart for 45 dollars and the software also includes google play store for their other apps.
