Directv Stream changes channel without anybody touching the remote

Hello: I have a few Direct Stream receivers, they are the osprey android version. The problem I am having is that it changes its channel number by itself... nobody touching the remote or anything.... it happens on all of them, at different times
any ideas?
best regards

I now have the answer for the last channel watched issue that has plagued me on and off for almost 2 years (I'm sure I'm not the only one.  A recent update AGAIN caused the last channel watched from the Directv stream box (Osprey) that was last on to be the same channel on any other box turned on afterwards.

I have confirmed with Directv tech support that the last channel watched is in fact box specific when using the Directv Stream box.  It don't know if this is true if you use another streaming device.

Things tried that didn't fix it.  DTV refreshed my account.  I restarted each box in multiple ways.  I unplugged power on each box, used restart option in the system setup, did a soft boot (red button for 5 seconds).

I can confirm that what did fix the last channel watched issue is a "hard boot".  This is pressing the red button (with tv on) for 30 seconds until "reset device" displays on the tv.  You will have to connect to your wifi and pair your remote again.  And IF your remote will control your tv you'll have to do that too (it's hit or miss if your tv can be controlled by the remote).  I have tested it multiple times today by turning each box on and off multiple times with different channels on each box.

I'm happy to know what to do now when the next update is pushed out and it breaks this functionality.  I hope this helps someone else.

Are the TV’s close to each other? Could someone else be using one of the other TV's and the remote is changing your channel?

Thank you Laura.

I did what you told me to do. About the remote and about the stream device issues, I found nothing wrong....
how often this happens?  It happens once every 2 or 3 days... it is not happening all he time, but it happens, I was wondering if maybe it is a bug in the app? Can you forward this to the programmers?  Have you heard of something like this from other people?  I am sure that if this is happening to me, I am not the only one.

Thanks again
Best regards

@LaloZetroc2022 you are not the only one this is happening to.  I have it happen randomly too.  I have 2 DTV stream boxes at opposite ends of my house (a good 50 feet apart).  When I turn on the bedroom unit it may be on the channel that the living room was last on and not the last channel I watched on the bedroom box.  It has happened to the living room a few times but not nearly as often as it does in the bedroom.  I wonder if it has to do with the remotes being blue tooth connected and the signal goes that far regardless of what direction it's pointed,

My living room is on the south end of my house and the tv is on the south outside wall.  So I am not facing toward the bedroom (which is on the north end of the house) when I'm using the living room remote.  The tv in the bedroom is on the south inside wall.  So I would think that since I face toward the living room while using the bedroom remote I would have the issue on the living room tv more.   Go figure.  I have called DTV and they are clueless.

When you turn on any device--app or stream box--- the last channel watched on any device is the channel it will go to on the current device you are using or turn on.

Sorry @Ludwick577 , that is NOT true.  Maybe you can explain why DTV support said otherwise.  I have had DTV stream for a year now and the majority of the time the last channel I watched on that box is the one that is on when I turn that box on again.

If I restart/reset a box it does go to the last channel that I watched from the "other" box.  This I know because I have had one box that I have had to reset numerous times and it always tunes to the channel I watched on the box that was not reset whether that box is on or off.  This I can understand because of being reset.

I have also watched on apps like Paramount+ and Peacock and they did not go to the last channel I watched, I had to select it if I wanted the same channel.

I think you misunderstood what I said.  No matter which device I use----whatever channel it's on --on the last device I used---it goes to the same channel on the current device. For example, if I watch CNN on my firestick's app then turn on my Dtv Stream box--the box goes to CNN.

What do you mean "watched on apps" ? Do you mean after you exit the apps---it doesn't go to the last channel you watched? If I watch an app on my stream box--when I exit out--it goes to the channel I was watching before opening the app.

You said "the last channel watched on any device is the channel it will go to on the current device you are using or turn on".  I didn't misunderstand.

If the last channel I watched on box A was ABC and the last channel I watched on box B was CBS then the next time I turn on each box they will typically be on the same channel I watched last on each box (box A will be on ABC and box B will be on CBS).  At least that is the case the majority of the time.

What I'm telling you that sometimes box B (if it was off) will be on ABC  when I turn it on.  For me it happens more on box B and only a few times on box A.  It makes no sense.  I know it can be difficult to explain.  FYI, I am quite tech savvy after being in the computer and software industry for the past 30 years.

No I did not mean that after watching an app and exiting it that the DTV box doesn't go to the last channel that the DTV box was on, because it does.

I have 3 boxes and when I turn one on it always goes to the channel the other box is on. The thing that bothers me the most is if one box has paused a program while another box changes channels when pause resumes it bounces to the other boxes channel. (same for paused recordings), this makes pause all but useless if my wife is watching with a different box. Any ideas? I'm thinking of looking into some router configuration steps to isolate the boxes.

@TJ495 I don't have any ideas other than to contact DTV and complain even though it may fall on deaf ears.  The router thing might work but I'm thinking that the boxes are controlled in the cloud under the logged in user.  Don't think we can setup different users (or sub users) and use a different user for each box???  Maybe we should suggest that to DTV.

Been suggested for years. Currently they do not support multiple profiles. Everything is dependent on the account holder.
