DirecTV Google TV Bug (Bluetooth)
Hey guys, I discovered a bug on the DirecTV streaming app on my Google TV box.
when you connect a Bluetooth soundbar or speaker, you are no longer able to view video on the DirecTV app. The app constantly buffers the feed and the feed will flash in and out. When I disconnect Bluetooth, the video then plays like normal. Reconnecting Bluetooth starts the glitching video feed again. You are not able to watch DirecTV with a Bluetooth speaker device connected to your google TV box.

I have the same problem with two separate google TV with chrome cast devices. Whenever a Bluetooth speaker is connected and set to play the TV audio, the app does just as OP describes.
The problem is specific to the Direct TV app, the condition doesn't happen with any other app.

Hi @Thomasg18, we're sorry to hear that the audio issues with the DIRECTV app on your Google TV haven't been resolved. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and resetting your device?

Thanks for responding quickly!
I’ve tried everything for multiple weeks here now including installing and uninstalling the app and nothing is working. I tested a fire stick with Bluetooth and the DirecTV app worked just fine with a Bluetooth speaker. Only the google TV operating system has this bug.

Thanks for sharing. If you haven't yet, can you try to check for updates to the app in your App Store? If an update is available, install it and restart the device. You can also check for software updates on your Google TV. Let me know if it helps. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

It’s the direct tv app stop acting like it’s not. I have 3 Apple TV’s in my house in FL one in my office and three in a second home in TN. All locations also have smart TV’s and I have the same problem at every location. I’ve deleted the app reinstalled it countless times on the TV and the Apple TV’s and it does the same thing. No other apps have ANY issues. It’s the direct App!

I have to agree with @Zuto28 everything indicates it is the DTV App. Multiple location have the same problem. Multiple devices, both BT and Video Devices. Other apps (youtube, netflix, prime) all have no problems. The condition ONLY occurs when you are using the DTV app, and have a BT speaker connected AND playing the tv sound through that BT speaker. All apps and devices are up to date and have been reinstalled multiple times
I guess there is one simple answer. Drop DTV and subscribe to a service that works.

I had a DM with a tech last night that actually did a good job trying to fix the issue rather than asking about updates and uninstalling bla bla. He said that he was going to re-sync my account which I assume meant re-synchronizing their system with my app. I have about 5 hours of TV time sense he did that without any issues. I’m hopeful this fixed the issue but we will see. I’ll keep anyone seeing this updated. Until he said that I had never heard that they could do that from their end. (Fingers crossed)

@Zuto28 did the resynchronizing ultimately solve the issue?

Disable Sueround Sound in settings. Works great after that.
