Direct tv via internet with air device recording

I’m still learning using the air remote. I’ve use satellite since 1997 and I really like using the air vice Roku particularly since I can directly dial in channels.
BUT - BIG BUT HERE - I’m having trouble getting things recorded. I’m good recording from the guide but I wish the jump to date feature was available more directly vice having to scroll back to the main menu especially when the guide is a week ahead.

but my main problem is making the system record something for later viewing. For example - today x Monday - i wanted to have the system record Saturday night live from last weekend. I went to search and on demand and found the most current show that I was looking for  but I could not make it record, the only option was to Watch now. I pressed the record button etc. am I missing something? I also tried ti record House of the dragon but all I could do was watch episode 1 or record the series which i chose but it’s never recorded x it’s like it’s waiting for it to be aired again.

Please help

Thanks

This link is not much help. It is the process for the satellite remote. I’m using the Gemini air device. Do you have a link for that or can any users comment please

We're sorry that didn't help. We appreciate the idea about the jump-to-date feature on the guide, and we'll raise this with our management. Yes, On Demand features are only available to be watched and not recorded, as programmers previously aired these shows, and On Demand lets you watch movies and TV shows you may have missed and enjoy them on your own time. The content provider determines these titles and release dates. Some titles/seasons/episodes may not be available. Visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000066868 and learn more. You may also watch select shows aired in the last 72 hours. Visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000082921 and follow the steps. Roland, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Roland - thank you for the references. It’s depressing that we can’t record previous showings. Having used satellite since 1997 I know we were able to do that on satellite. I also was unable for any of tge shows that supposedly offered the 72 hour lookback.
