Continual glitches in DVR recordings

Has anyone else noticed glitches every minute to minute-and-a-half in their recordings the past couple of days. I first discovered it in my CW recordings from Thursday, but now I'm watching an AMC recording from this evening, and it has it too. Very annoying!

I've been seeing glitches - brief audio and video dropouts lasting less than a second and recurring at regular intervals - when watching recordings since the middle of the World Series. I see them on two Apple TV 4K boxes after upgrading to iOS 17. I don't see glitches on the ($30 from BestBuy) Amazon Firestick 4K.

iOS 17 has many bugs, this is only one of them.

Hi lou_do ... the audio drops out, and it lasts for approximately 10 seconds. But it reoccurs every few minutes throughout the recording.

Hi and litzdog911 ... I have an Apple TV 4K box. 

Hi bubbadue ... I haven't made any system changes on my end. This just started happening with my Thursday recordings. I’ll try disconnecting the box and restarting to see if that makes any difference.

ISSUES2 If you've got auto-update turned on Apple applies updates for you. Go check on what version of tvOS you've got, Settings->General->About.

I've only seen the glitching on 4K recorded shows, YMMV with plain old HD.

I have my software updates on auto, but for some odd reason, I discovered that I had an update available (first time that's ever happened).

I performed the update to my Apple TV box, and I've set a couple recordings on the two channels I was having issues with, so hopefully the problem will be resolved. Wish me luck!

I have the same problem, but it’s only on one show that I record and it happens every time. It’s been doing this for several months. I’m getting to the point where I’m considering dropping Directv and going with another option especially since they keep raising their prices and dropping programs that I enjoyed watching.

If it's only happening on one show/channel, then it's likely an issue with that channel. Changing providers wouldn't fix that. What show/channel? What streaming device are you using?

I’ve been watching The Challenge on MTV and every episode ends up having glitches in it. It doesn’t glitch when I watch any other shows on that channel.

Almost certainly an issue with MTV's show. If it's just that one show, how could it be an issue with the provider or your equipment?

I just find it frustrating, but my main issue with the provider is that they keep dropping channels that I have always enjoyed watching, and raising the price for Directv to the point where it’s getting difficult to afford on my pension.

That's a totally different issue. While there are certainly other options besides DirecTV it seems that everyone keeps raising their prices. Only you can decide which provider offers you the best value.
