Constant Freezes and buffering

i have had issues with the new Directv app since it updated. I am constantly getting buffering, freezing, restarting of programs, Favorite channels not showing up. No volume on recordings. Until this last update I haven't had any of these issues with Directv Stream, I have a Samsung Neo Qled TV.

We recently rolled back an app update for some customers with select Samsung TVs given the experience was not currently up to our standards. We plan to provide an app enhancement for these customers in the future. Rizza, DIRECTV Community Team

We're sorry for the app issues, @JadeMara94. We're aware and are working on a fix. Please share your Samsung TV's model number and the DIRECTV build and version located under Settings in the app, so we can further investigate. John, DIRECTV Community Team

This is an ongoing issue, this morning it keeps freezing, it freezes in the middle of shows, freezes on commercials, I have had to restart numerous times, it restarts programs in the middle of shows, stuttering. I am not going to keep paying for TV that I cannot watch, this is insane, I have never had this many issues, and all started as soon as you upadated the app. I cannot even watch full shows, because of this.

I had this issue with an older Apple TV.  I've upgraded to a new Appple TV and the issue went away.

I am having similar issues with my Samsung TV since the most recent update. Favorites not being selected, etc. I also had to stop using my Apple 4K due to the constant freezing.

Googled and found this thread.  Having the exact same issue.  Much slower with the latest update.  Almost to the point of being unusable.  It now matches the Firestick UI but seems to be running on an emulator it's so slow.

I am having the same issue.   Freezes . Then when I change the station and come back it plays as normal until it freezes in a few minutes.  

If  DirectV knows about this problem, then they need to credit all Samsung users for their poor quality APP and lack of service.

I have problems on ALL of my SAMSUNG TV’s irrespective of the model # .

It continues, and I am assuming they are still working on the problem, since I have not heard anything else, however I agree with someone who mentioned it happens on all of their Samsung TVs, I am also having that same issue on my other 2 TVs, however I do not have the finances to purchase new TVs, since one is an 85 inch Samsung.

Have you tried hardwiring one of your TV’s to test if it’s a WiFi issue? My Stream works best with a hardwired connection   Is there any change?

I have not hardwired my TV, and since I am running other things on my WiFi with no issues, it is only the TVs. Streaming works fine on my computer or phone with no issues.

BTW I will say again that these issues only started when I updated the Directv App- prior to that I have had no issues with Directv- other than normal ones. And I have looked at getting rid of it, however nobody else offers what they Offer, or some of the channels we like to watch are not offered from other providers.

The Samsung TV platform has a long history of sub-optimal performance with the DIRECTV app.  The platform (TV or Streaming device) share some responsibility with DIRECTV for making a reliable app, as both benefit from its existence.  

I suspect you would find fewer issues using an external streaming device (e.g. Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, etc.)

Last night did it for me to finally cancel.   I was watching the hockey game and as the player was taking his shot, the picture froze.  When it came back( changed channel and came back to the same channel) They were already celebrating the goal.  I missed it.  Same deal when watching baseball.  

This was not the first time this happened, and in the past I have always had problems with Direct TV streaming. 

Just cancelled the service.  They wanted to give me $5 off a month if I stayed on.  They are already more expensive then others. 

Signed up with SLING. Installed the app on the Samsung, and not only does it not freeze, but it's fast in changing channels.  Their GUI makes more sense as well. 

After 20 years from using UVERSE to DirectV GOOD-BYE ATT and your lousy customer service , high prices , and poor quality tv !!!!!
