"Are you still watching?"

I get this question often when I leave my TV on any ONE channel for several hours (usually 4 hrs)...and there's a count-down clock running that means the system is going to shut me down or change the channel if I don't respond within the next few seconds.

WHAT THE (Edited per community guidelines) BUSINESS IS IT OF DIRECTV REGARDING HOW LONG I WATCH A SINGLE CHANNEL?????

STAY OUT OF MY TV!!

I'll watch what I want to watch for as long as I want to watch it!

If you are using a Directv Streaming box go into settings by pressing the button that looks like a house on your remote control and going all the way over to where it looks like a gear then hit ok then go down to system and hit ok then hit ok on display and hit ok then go down to power saving and then select ok to turn it off.  This will keep the are you still watching message from popping up.

What device are you using? If your device has a power saver option, disable or turn it off.

Shazamm!!   I'm on a DIRECTVStream control device connected by ethernet cable to an AT&T internet/phone router.  The device is connected via HDMI cable to a 40" Samsung Smart TV.

I can't imagine the router having anything to do with shutting me off after 4 hours.   Nor can I imagine my TV doing so.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the DIRECTVStream device.

However, I have been wrong several times in my 80 years on this earth!!

Power saving option on your streaming device.

You are right it has nothing to do with your router or your tv and everything to do with your DirecTV stream device if you follow the directions I posted above it will turn that power-saving feature off so that your tv will not shut off or show that message after 4 hours.

If you are using a Firestick it is in the DATA USAGE MONITORING

TURN OFF, Still watching

It's setup to turn off data to the firestick when your tv is off.

That's why it keeps asking you if you are there.

If the power saver option on the TV does not work, then you have no option.
