AppleTV app not working
Just singed up for the streaming service. I have an AppleTV. Its software is up to date and the remote is only a couple months old and works just fine. All other apps are also working just fine.
Downloaded the DirecTV app and signed on with the new email and password. Then it goes to a screen where it wants a choice between satellite or streaming service, under each are the words “Start Watching”. I can move back and forth between the two options, but nothing happens when I select streaming.
Yes, of course I’ve tried un/reinstalling the DirecTV app, multiple times. Same thing happens time. I get to “Streaming or Satellite” and nothing happens. Also spent over an hour on the phone with DirecTV, no joy.
Is anyone able to make the DirecTV app work on an AppleTV device?

Are you a previous satellite subscriber? Using the same credentials for both services? If so, you need to use a different ID (email address) for each service.

Ask to speak to a supervisor and have them escalate and escalate and escalate. The solution is to de-link the two accounts. After my accounts were de-linked I had to delete the directv app and re-install. It is now working.

I am having the same issue. How do I change the email for streaming? Does directv have to do that for me?

Directv takes me to ATT and there is no place to change it. Really strange. Just spent an hour with tech support and asked them to change. They could not or would not.

@bcbsncjlj thank you! I go to that profile and it shows a different email. But when I try to use it on the directv app and the different email, the password does not work. Any idea how to reset the password?

What worked for me was to call at&t (not specific to direct tv). Try 800.288.2020. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Don’t try to trouble shoot. Tell them that you need to de-link the accounts. They may not know what this means. Ask to talk to another supervisor. I finally got someone who told me they made the request and I would hear back from AT&T within three days and they gave me a case number. It’s not a standard request (yet) but it’s the solution!

@bcbsncjlj I do see a different email for streaming. But I cannot use it to login. My old email for satellite allows me login to apple TV and use other apps, like ESPN. Shows I am using stream. But the directv app does not work. Thank you for your help with this.

Do you have linked accounts? This has been known to have problems when changing emails. The easiest thing to do is cancel your service and re-subscribe with a different email account.

I am happy someone was able to actually get this done, After 5 phone calls , 1 supervisor call and over 2 hours on the phone and getting absolutely nowhere I am giving up. Never used my Stream account yet no one can figure out how to delete it is insane.

I just went through a 40 minute chat with a Directv Stream rep asking them to delink my account from the start. They said that they could, but after "synchronizing and refreshing my account", no luck. They eventually conceded the there was nothing they could do and told me to call Directv (satellite number) during business hours. If I weren't grandfathered into one of the original plans, I'd just cancel my account and start anew at this point.
