How to reply to a user who posted?
How do I reply to another user? I can make comments in a thread, which is ok, but sometimes I would like to reply to the individual that wrote the comment.
I used to know how! For the life of me, I can't figure it out, my age is showing. 🤔help!

At the top right corner next to the notification bell, there is a chat box. Click it and type the user you would like to privately message by choosing the pencil with notepad.

The only time I see a chat box is when I contact Dtv help. --Next to the bell... that is a link for your profile, settings, bookmarks, signout.

I always have the chat box. In the old days, it was called "Private Message".

Correct, but I have always had the chat icon on the top banner line. Never understood why some have it and some don't.

@bcbsncjlj
Perhpas only ACEs have specific access. Regular users see it when DIRECTV help sends them a chat request.

Back in the old day when it was "Private Message" it was available for all. Maybe with the new message board you may be correct. i know when the new board first started, it was bare and there were no way to communicate. Over time, they kept adding features. Maybe it's just the new board and the way it was coded to add links based on status. Thanks anyway for your thoughts.

I do not understand. What does that mean, when I type the @? Where do I type this.
I do not have a chat box next to my bell icon.
I cannot comment to a specific sender. 😨

Directv Forum people,
If you're listening, why cant all participants have the ability to reply to someone??
kinda defeats the purpose of a chat forum doesn't it?
If we have to work up to that level, that's just silly. Most ppl will just give up and leave. We come here to learn, how can we learn if our communication is impaired.
please reconsider this! Thank you.

Hello @Rondam66, our top priority is to make sure the DIRECTV FORUM is a safe place for our customers to communicate with us and amongst each other in the most effective way possible. In this case, the best way to take part in the DIRECTV Community Forums is by starting or joining a Conversation. Please try the following steps to learn How to Reply to a Question.
1. Make sure that you have signed in to the DIRECTV Community Forums.
2. When you see a Question that you'd like to answer or reply to, simply click inside the text box that states Comment on the post here.
3. The text box will expand to provide you more space to post your comments. You can also take advantage of the formatting tabs and buttons available to you.
4. When you are done, click Post and your reply will appear under that Question's Responses.
If someone else chooses to do so, they can continue the conversation with the ''Reply to this comment here'' option, at the bottom of your response. Please let us know how it goes!

@Ludwick577 No, the chat icon does not become visible until you've been sent your first DM. After that the icon will remain for all users.
It's a stupid setup, like most things with this forum software, and causes new users endless grief because the DTV (and AT&T) people never mention this small detail when they tell people they'll be sending a DM.

Almost as stupid as the DTV STREAMING service itself!
no customizable options at all! Like ads amd wallpaper popping up after you pause for 20 seconds. Like I want their ad running across the screen, when I pay to subscribe. Hate that.
Many of the channels are stupid.
customer support, many of the reps are absolute (Edited per community guidelines). The one yesterday couldn't find my account! Asked if I signed up under a different name. I think he was the janitor. He didn't know what a pop up ad was.
im hanging on to this service only for now, because many of the others, like U-tube streaming, do not offer a remote. I want a real remote! Not to use my phone!
Streaming tv is a real disappointment to myself and my husband. 😨
