HBO Max account outside of DirectTV Stream

My promotional period for HBO Max has ended and I'm wondering if I can still access HBO Max through DirectTV Stream with an account I set up directly through HBO Max and NOT through AT&T? I assume i could still launch the app through DirectTV Stream and sign directly into HBO Max?
