Google settings on 2 different boxes

I have 2 streaming boxes and would only one of them to be set up for Google Assistant. Is this possible, or will the settings be applied to both boxes? One box is at a vacation home that friends sometimes use and I would prefer not to have this box set up to my google account.

Thanks.

Yes, you can have it so that only one box is signed into your Google account. You have to sign into google on each box individually when setting up the box. So sign into google on the one you are going to be using and then when setting up the other box you can make it so that google voice is set up but not signed into your account.  I know this to be true because I share my Directv Streaming service with 2 other houses and I did not want them using my google account so I made it so that voice was activated but not signed into my account.  Hope this helps.

I would go into settings and delete your google account and then add it back in it will take you through the setup process again.   Maybe it didn't finish setting up and that is why it's not working.

The service requires the account holder to log in to the proprietary box to access services. So your Google account would have to be available to use the box.

I understand that, but that was not the question. Can one box be set up with the google account for all the google features (voice, etc) and the other box not set up that way?

No idea. Guess you can just try and see.

Thank you so much. So, if I have google voice activated on the other box, but not signed in, does voice still work? Hope I'm asking that right.

Also, does it have to the same google account as my direct tv stream account, or another google account I have for personal email?

Yes, voice will still work even though it is not signed into an account.  The only thing signing into your google account changes is that it gives you more custom personalized recommendations when doing searches.

Thanks. It looks like I need to do some troubleshooting. Voice is not working on the one box even though I am signed in to my google account. It also didn't work when I wasn't signed in, so something is wrong.

I appreciate your responses.

Hello @iplay10us2 , we'll be glad to answer all your questions about how to manage the settings on your DIRECTV STREAM devices.

Google Assistant is a feature you can turn on in each specific Google account, for that reason, the settings will be the same for every box you access with the same Google credentials. We recommend that you use two different Google accounts to set up your devices, in that way the Google Assistant feature can be turned on in of them, and turned off in the another one.
