Fraud through DirectTV Streaming

On August 19 I was contacted by a Direct TV service representative about including Showtime.  I explained that I was not really interested and he pressed me saying that if I agreed to try it for three months @ $11.00 per month, I could cancel at the end of three month.  He gave me a date of November 17, 2021 to call and cancel.  He said of course if I decided I wanted to keep it, that would be fine too.  However, he said whether or not I cancelled I would receive a $75.00 American Express gift card.  Most probably he was on a commission basis and used this technique to sell Showtime.  In any case, this was not true.  It is, in fact, FRAUD.  There was never any $75.00 American Express gift card.  I am wondering if anyone else was approached with this same promise.  I never watched Showtime, and asked for a refund of the three months.  I was promised the refund.  Hopefully, this isn't fraudulent too!

If it seems to be too good to be true it is. Do not ever take phone calls and agree to pay for things. You should only do account changes online or if YOU call.

I should have known better; however, the number was legit.  I've learned my lesson.  They did refund the 3 months of Showtime I paid, so I'm even.  I was in business for 57 years and you would think I would know better.  Oh well!  (Yep!  I'm old!  lol)
