Directv Streaming Box

Does it still work as a streaming device if service is cancelled?

It's a brick without an account. By default the app is loaded and within the app is where you add apps. Most streaming services load to a home page where you select apps to load. The propeitary streaming box requires you to login to your account and auto loads the DircTV Stream app. No account then you cant get in.

Actually, what they say about that is contradictory, but indicates if you cancel, you can still use it (for other apps).  In section 3 of the Terms of Use (here), it says:

Use of Device. Your access to and use of the Device requires You maintaining an active DIRECTV STREAM account. You may access the Device by entering the user ID and password associated with your DIRECTV STREAM Service. If you cancel your subscription to the DIRECTV STREAM Service, you may continue accessing the Device without an active DIRECTV STREAM account using the same or other valid DIRECTV STREAM user ID and password.

I don't know if that actually works - I haven't seen a reliable report one way or the other.  If it does work, no clue as to what it would look like or how you would access the apps.

There are a few people on this board with "ACE" in their profile who don't own/use Dtv stream boxes and make incorrect comments on its features.

Hope you are not referring to me - I have 2 and have no idea how you would use the box without an account. Been trying to figure that out for almst a year. Possibly because I have the 200 model box - but who knows.

@bcbsncjlj I know you own a box. I was not referring to you. A few weeks ago another expert, who doesn't own a box, told someone the remote for the Dtv stream box doesn't control a/v receivers.
