Change geographical location

I will be in a different geographical location - New York rather than Texas - for 5 months and want to access the local New York channels and sports. How do I do this? My billing address remains the same. I am connected to Direct TV via ATT.

What streaming device are you using?

You can update your home location 4 times a year!  You just have to go into your account and update your information.

If you are using a DirecTV Stream streaming device, the info they supply to deal with a location change is here.  (I have never done this personally, but I assume it works.)  As noted, they limit you to doing this at most 4 times per year.  If you do this, I believe any other "TV streamers" you have (DirecTV brand or others) are supposed to also automatically change, but I have some doubts - you may need to deal with each individually.

For mobile devices (phones and tablets), there is no need to do anything - they track your actual location and aren't limited on the number of times their location can change.  (They assume those changes would be while "traveling" rather than "moving".)

I'm not sure what the mechanism to use if you only have non-DirecTV streamers (Roku, FireTV, AppleTV) or what to do if they don't update if you first updated a DirecTV streamer, since the steps on the linked page don't apply to them.  You probably would need to contact support.
